Regumate, Racing NSW secret weapon

Here’s something you don’t read every day.

Massive and extraordinarily successful owner Bob Peters is bringing his two stunning mares to race in Sydney because…..of an anomaly re a certain drug.

It’s called Regumate.

And it improves most mares on the racetrack who are on it.

Regumate is one of a handful of products used to regulate the period cycles of fillies and mares and those cycles are most disruptive in the spring.

Which is when Peters will bring his superstar mares ARCADIA QUEEN and ENTICING STAR to the east coast.

They will both contest the $14million The Everest.

Last December Peters was quoted in Perth saying, “the soft stance of NSW makes the decision a bit easier than thinking about going to Victoria where you can’t use it.”

Chris Waller has already picked up Enticing Star as his The Everest slot horse.

He knows a thing or two about how good mares can run in Sydney in the Spring.

Victoria’s position was consistent with the global stance on Regumate but NSW broke away, arguing the steroid component of the product was insignificant and not performance enhancing, which is probably not correct.

Ciaron Maher & David Eustace brought their troubled, out of form mare ALOISIA to Sydney last December for the Gr 2 Villiers, put her on Regumate, and nearly pulled off a miracle when she came storming home to just fail.

Her run convinced them to send more mares to Sydney.

The International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, recommends it be banned because it is a performance enhancer.

RacingNSW, however, does not hold that view.
