Robbie Dolan to donate riding fees to charity

In Ireland this weekend, they are jumping out of the woodwork to ride in the race named after superstar Pat Smullen.

That’s because the race is raising money and awareness for cancer. All monies raised go to Cancer Trials Ireland.

And the support has become global.

It’s even reached down here with our own champion apprentice (Irish lad) Robbie Dolan getting involved.

He clearly follows what is trending back in his homeland and as such was moved when top rider Chris Hayes decided to help in a rather big way.

Hayes said on social media, that, “cancer darkens nearly everyone’s door at some stage so can I ask that we all PLEASE try in some way to help Cancer Trials?

“And I’ll start by donating all my riding fees from the upcoming Irish Champions Weekend to this very worthy cause.”

Dolan, upon reading that was quick to follow suit.

“I too will donate. All my riding fees from Canterbury Park on Wednesday will go to Cancer Trials.

“I’m following in the footsteps of Chris Hayes and Donnacha O’Brien in doing this and I encourage others to donate if they can.

“This is a great cause and I’m looking forward to watching the Irish Champs Weekend.”

Robbie has 4 rides at Canterbury at the moment – the best of them for Kris Lees in the last race on the aptly named: Great Danger.

These lads are helping Cancer Trials overcome the great danger often associated with cancer.

The clinic, and there is one in New Zealand as well, design, open and run cancer trials and research studies which enable patients to get access to new and promising cancer treatments.
