Two time Melbourne Cup winning trainer Robert Hickmott is set to leave Lloyd Williams’ owned Macedon Lodge after Saturday’s Zipping Classic.
Robert Hickmott has been in charge of Macedon Lodge since he took over from John Sadler in 2009 in which he has trained two Melbourne Cup winners for owner Lloyd Williams.
Hickmott’s Melbourne Cup success was with Green Moon in 2012 and with last years winner Almandin.
Williams has confirmed that Liam Howley will take over the job as head trainer with Howley set to start as early as next week.
Liam Howley has been at Macedon Lodge since 2013 where he worked as the assistant trainer.
