Glyn Schofield says he is highly likely to appeal the severity of a careless riding suspension which will put an end to his Victoria Derby hopes on Prized Icon.
Schofield was outed for his ride on Laucala at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
Stewards determined that Laucala shifted in and caused interference to Bannatyne who was checked for a run.
If the five-meeting penalty stands, Schofield will also miss the ride on Prized Icon’s James Cummings-trained stablemate Savvan in the Group Two Wakeful Stakes on the same day, October 29.
If Savvan acquits herself well in the Wakeful, she is likely to run in the VRC Oaks on November 3, the final day of Schofield’s suspension which also rules him out of the Melbourne Cup.
The ban is to begin after Saturday’s Randwick meeting,.
