It will hopefully be second time lucky for Boa Vista when the filly steps out for her debut at Sandown.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained two-year-old heads to the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) on Saturday having been withdrawn from a similar race last week.
Boa Vista was down to run in the filly’s division of the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Sandown last Saturday but was withdrawn following a bad scope.
“She had slight trace of mucus on scope, so we scratched her,” Kent Jnr said.
“She scoped clean on Monday. She galloped really well on Tuesday morning, so she’s right to go.”
Boa Vista has been taken along quietly by the Price and Kent Jnr yard.
Getting up to the trialling stages in the spring, Boa Vista had one trial at Caulfield Heath in October before being put away.
In preparation for her autumn campaign, Boa Vista has had two jump-outs at Cranbourne, finishing second in her most recent on January 13.
Boa Vista is one of 81 two-year-olds that remain in the hunt for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 22 and is also among nominations for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill in March.
“She’s a lovely daughter of Snitzel,” Kent Jnr said.
“It’s no easy task to go to one of these Blue Diamond lead-up races and the Chairman’s has been won by so many good horses in the past.
“But she’s a nice filly, going the right way and is on an upward trajectory.
“We just don’t know where she will end up at this stage and I think we will learn a lot about her after this run.”
The last three editions of the Chairman’s Stakes have been won by colts which followed five fillies – Formality (2017), Ennis Hill (18), Loving Gaby (19), Mildred (20) and Enthaar (21) being successful.
The last two-year-old to win the Chairman’s Stakes – Blue Diamond Stakes double was Extreme Choice in 2016.
