I have a confession to make – at the risk of sounding very much single, who wants a girlfriend when you can get excited by the likes of So You Think during the spring carnival?
Well, I warned you that I was going to sound very geekily single.
But seriously, So You Think is an excitement machine.
With good looks and a motor to match, he is a dream racehorse.
This writer believes he is one week away from his coronation within the racing industry as the next champion of Australian racing.
He may then only be 10 days away from becoming the toast of an adoring public.
He may be the best that Bart Cummings has ever had – better than Galilee and Leilani, better than Let’s Elope and Saintly, better than them all.
So You Think did the unthinkable last year, winning the Cox Plate at his fifth start.
But becoming a dual Cox Plate winner at his tenth start? Unfathomable.
And he is equal favourite to become a dual Cox Plate winner AND a Melbourne Cup winner at just start number eleven.
This is one serious racehorse.
He has the potential to bring a whole new crowd to racing.
Yes, I have a little bit of a man crush on So You Think.
But how can you not?
Every time he races, my jaw drops to the ground.
He is something special, and so today I am declaring myself president of the So You Think Fan Club.
He’s given me some ups and downs, this horse.
I backed him in early August for the Cox Plate last year, when he was still 150-1.
That was a thrill like no other.
And then the disappointment of not seeing him in the autumn was heartbreaking.
But he’s back, and he’s about to write himself into the history books.
I think he deserves all the recognition in the world.
I’ve created a Facebook page for him, and I hope that anyone who reads this will join.

I can’t wait for next Saturday, I have a feeling that something very special will occur.
