Unbeaten Justify filly Spicy Martini will get her chance against some of the best three-year-old sprinters in the country after being locked away for this weekend’s inaugural Magic Millions Sunlight.
The Toby Edmonds and Stephen McLean-trained speedster will run in the Gold Coast Turf Club slot in the $3 million event, which will be run at the Gold Coast this Saturday.
Gold Coast Turf Club chief executive Steve Lines was excited to be teaming with a local galloper, who is raced by Aquis Farm, which has a presence in Queensland.
“We are really excited to have Spicy Martini representing the Gold Coast and Aquis Farm on Saturday,” he said.
“Whilst we know she will face her toughest test in a field of this calibre, she couldn’t have been more impressive in what she has done to date.
“She brings a real ‘X factor’ to the race.”
Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot and Magic Millions specialist Arabian Summer are among her rivals in the 1100-metre contest.
Spicy Martini heads in a winner of her only two starts to date, the first a 1-1/2-length win at big odds at Eagle Farm in October before a 1-3/4-length win in the Listed Mode Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on November 30.
The barrier draw for the Magic Millions Sunlight will be held at Aquis Park at 10am Tuesday.
