Star mare Autumn Angel retired, set for Inglis Digital sale

Autumn Angel, the Group 1-winning mare trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, has been retired following a tendon injury and will be sold as a broodmare prospect via the Inglis Digital auction next week.

The 4-year-old, daughter of The Autumn Sun, was purchased for $230,000 at the 2022 Easter Yearling Sale. With four wins from 11 starts, including her highlight victory in the Group 1 ATC Oaks, Autumn Angel was expected to compete in key races this spring, including the Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup.

Peter Moody reflected on her potential, stating, โ€œShe was a special racehorseโ€ฆ sheโ€™ll be one heck of a broodmare.โ€ Co-owner Wylie Dalziel expressed disappointment at her early retirement, adding, โ€œSheโ€™s the best filly Iโ€™ve ever had anything to do with.โ€

Bidding for Autumn Angel will open on September 30 and close on October 3 via Inglis Digital.
