Caballus will attempt to keep his unbeaten record intact for Bjorn Baker when he runs in the Inglis Sprint at Flemington.

Sydney trainer Bjorn Baker will attempt another raid on a rich Flemington three-year-old sprint when Caballus runs in the Inglis Sprint.

Baker collected the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes with Ozzmosis last spring and while the Inglis Sprint (1100m) does not carry the same prestige, it does carry $1 million in prize money.

Caballus, a former member of the Chris Waller stable, carries the same colours as Ozzmosis and is unbeaten in two starts for Baker.

He scored first-up at Rosehill on January 20 then jumped to Stakes level to capture the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 10.

Finishing behind Caballus that day was Celestial Legend who has since come out to win the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes.

“The form has worked out really well from the Eskimo Prince,” Baker said.

“But it’s a tough race, 19 runners. Once again, he’s going to have to beat them all so we’re not getting carried away.

“But I think he is a very nice horse, his work since has been good and he couldn’t look any better.

“He is a lovely colt.”

Caballus has paid the price for his last start win in Group company, afforded a 2.5kg penalty under the set-weights and penalties conditions.

Baker said he had worked Caballus, left-handed, but he does not see the straight track or barrier 15 being a concern for the colt.

“We’ve worked him once and we’re pretty happy with him that way,” Baker said.

“I guess the straight is a bit of an unknown quantity, but he is a quality colt.

“He should get his chance from out there and Josh (Parr) has ridden particularly well down the straight for us before.”

Baker said he had not drilled down on specific plans for Caballus post Saturday’s outing.

“We’ll see what happens on Saturday first and foremost then have a good think about it,” he said.
