Chris Waller produced The Elanora to win the Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday and said the emerging three-year-old would be given a short break and aimed at the Sydney autumn carnival.
He is likely to tackle the Randwick Guineas second up with the Australian Derby his major goal.
Waller reported the stable could find nothing amiss with Shaquero after his disappointing performance as favourite in the B J McLachlan Stakes won by Alpine Edge.
He said the colt would not proceed directly to the $2 million Magic Millions Classic off Saturday’s effort but he may give him a chance to put his Queensland campaign back on track by running him again a week before the Gold Coast showpiece.
