The Grey Wizard, trained by Graham Motion, has earned a late entry to the Melbourne Cup after an impressive win in the Group 2 Belmont Gold Cup (3200m) at Saratoga in June. The American stayer further solidified his credentials with a recent victory at Listed level at Delaware Park.
The Grey Wizard also holds an entry for this weekβs inaugural Nashville Gold Cup at Kentucky Downs, which could serve as a final preparation before heading to Australia.
Trainer Graham Motion is excited about the prospect of taking on the international challenge. βThe international travel is fun to think about,β Motion said. βI am a big fan of Australian racing, and I am a big fan of international racing.β Having spent time in Sydney in his youth, Motion is eager for his first experience at the Melbourne Cup.
