Too Darn Discreet aims for Thousand Guineas glory

Too Darn Discreet, the daughter of Too Darn Hot, has shown promise in her two starts over 1100 meters. She finished second on debut at Bendigo and fourth at Caulfield, demonstrating a strong finish from the back of the field.

Trainer Dan O’Sullivan has brought Too Darn Discreet back into work after a brief spell, with the immediate goal of securing her maiden victory early in the campaign. O’Sullivan has ambitious plans for the three-year-old filly, targeting high-class races this spring.

Potential targets include the Listed Jim Moloney Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, with the ultimate aim being the prestigious Group 1 Thousand Guineas. O’Sullivan is confident in her ability to excel over longer distances, ideally around 1600 meters. She recorded the second fastest last 800 meters at Caulfield, clocking in at 46.09 seconds.

“She was very good first-up, and then she got a bit lost second-up but really stormed home,” O’Sullivan said. “At least 1600m will be her best distance I think. We’ll certainly have her going early in the spring, see how she’s going, and then we might need to back off her a bit for the Thousand Guineas – that’s the dream.”

With her impressive pedigree and promising early performances, Too Darn Discreet is set to make a significant impact in the upcoming spring races.
