Connections of Via Sistina and Buckaroo are keeping their spring options open, with both horses still in contention for the Caulfield Cup (October 19) and Cox Plate (October 26) after third declarations on Tuesday.
There are now 33 remaining acceptors for the Caulfield Cup and 26 for the Cox Plate, setting the stage for potential high-profile clashes in the latter, including Pride Of Jenni, Mr Brightside, Japanese star Prognosis, and three-year-old Broadsiding.
Japanβs Warp Speed is the last international horse left in the Caulfield Cup field, while notable horses like Place Du Carrousel, Kovalica, and Point King have not been paid up for the race.
Meanwhile, three-year-olds Broadsiding, Evaporate, and Wanaruah remain paid-up for the Cox Plate, facing older rivals. The final late-entry fee for the Cox Plate is $200,000 for older horses and $100,000 for three-year-olds.
