Viewed and Alcopop go into the 2009 Melbourne Cup as equal favourites with most bookmakers we take a look at their preparation in lead up to this great race and why these two are favourites.
Viewed – Currently $5Â Â Â Bet Now
August 14: 2nd in Memsie Stakes
September 19: 10th in Underwood Stakes
October 3: 7th in the Turnbull Stakes
October 17: 1st in the Caulfield Cup
October 31: 3rd in the Mackinnon Stakes
Alcopop – Currently $5Â Â Â Bet Now
September 2: 1st in the Balaklava Cup
September 25: 1st in the JRA Cup
October 10: 1st in the Herb Power
As you can see these two runners have come through a much different preperation mainly due to the unknown expectations of Alcopop when he was brought from South Australia after breaking the race record time in the Balaklava cup to race in Victoria in which he won both of his starts in very impressive fashion.
Viewed on the other hand has tackled some of Australia’s best races in his preparation including the Caulfield Cup in which he won well beating home another Bart Cummings trained horse Roman Emporer.
Both have great chances in tomorrows race although it is very hard to compare the two runners as neither form lines can be matched to the other, we like both horses but feel the class of Viewed will prevail although we wont be surprised if we see Alcopop pass the post in 1st position.
