South Australian jockey Alice Lindsay has been slapped with an eight-meeting suspension following her improper riding incident at Naracoorte last week.
The 30-year-old rider was charged by stewards for her actions during the third race on Friday, December 29, when she struck rival horse Valkur on the head with her whip while aboard Ultron.
The Racing SA stewards’ report highlighted the incident, stating that Lindsay’s whip use near the 200-meter mark came under scrutiny.
After turning her head to the right and realising Valkur was nearby, she drew her whip in her right hand, adopting a backhand position, and extended her right arm in an unusual manner, ultimately striking Valkur in the vicinity of the head.
As a result, Alice Lindsay’s suspension will take effect from midnight on Saturday, January 6, and will last until midnight on Wednesday, January 24, encompassing eight racing meetings.
