Regally bred filly named City Of Lights has made a perfect start to her racing career, capturing victory in her debut race at Geelong on Sunday.
Boasting a pedigree close to that of Champion mare Winx her debut was much anticipated, City Of Lights isΒ byDeep Impact and out of mare Vegas Showgirl.
Jockey Ben Allen skillfully guided her from the inside barrier, positioning her just off the leading pack to score the win where she was the $3.00 favourite with betr.
The race unfolded as a genuinely contested 1418m event, demanding both skill and endurance. The three-year-old, trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, initially took a moment to close the gap on the frontrunner, Kollantai, during the home stretch. However, City Of Lights showcased her determination and ultimately passed her rival, displaying remarkable strength and speed in the final stretch to win by one and a half lengths.
