Zac Purton is undergoing scans to assess potential ankle and knee injuries following a fall at Sha Tin on Sunday.
The leading Hong Kong jockey was involved in a three-horse crash during race nine, which also saw riders Angus Chung and Keith Yeung hospitalised.
Chung’s horse, Legend St Paul’s, broke down in the home straight during the Class 3 Handicap, causing a chain reaction that saw Purton’s Silvery Breeze and Yeung’s Lupo Solitario also fall.
Yeung sustained bruising to his upper thigh, while Purton dislocated a toe on his left foot and Chung suffered bruising to his face and upper body.
All four jockeys, including Vincent Ho, who fell earlier, are out of Wednesday’s meeting.
Purton’s scan results will be pivotal for his participation in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup on February 23, where he is expected to play a key role with the talented Ka Ying Rising.
