Four new Sires for Darley Australia, and as Darley says ‘Which stallion for which mare, it’s the choice that decides destiny.”

Although disappointing that the Australian and British Champion First Season Sire Too Darn Hot is no longer travelling to Australia, does Darley Kelvinside have his heir-apparent in Broadsiding.

As the $3.20 hot favourite with Ladbrokes for the $1m Golden Rose Stakes in late September, in this his classic 3yo season, what can further holds for Broadsiding at Kelvinside in 2025 or 2026.

Being a late 2yo, he was outstanding in winning the JJ Atkins Stakes and Champagne Stakes both over 1600m and the BTC Sires’ Produce Stakes of 1400m, for four wins and $1.922m in stakes.

Home-bred by Godolphin from the winning Street Cry mare Speeding, he’s the family of Flit and Gold Hope, and will we see him shuttling to Dalham Hall Stud to stand by his sire Too Darn Hot.

However, its the Darley clients who are not denied, as both Too Darn Hot and new sire Native Trail are both undefeated European 2YO Champions, and both being Group 1 winning 3 year-olds.

As Native Trail went onto win the Irish 2000 Guineas, Craven Plate and second in the 2000 Guineas, it was Too Darn Hot with the Sussex Stakes, Prix de Jean Prat and second in the 2000 Guineas.

Being by the great sire-of-sires in Oasis Dream, Darley says that Native Trail is ‘the best unbeaten juvenile colt descending from Danzig, the same Green Desert sire line as I Am Invincible.’

‘Unbeaten leader of his first crop at two – like Shamardal, Pinatubo, City of Troy, and faster in the Dewhurst than them all, running a faster Irish 2000 Guineas than Kingman, Paddington.”

A Bay standing 16.1½hh, he’s the family of Vanlandingham and Kirkwall with his Observatory dam a sister to French Champion 3YO Sprinter African Rose, and Helleboirne the dam of Calyx.

With every international stud now being enhanced by a Group 1 winning son of Frankel, it’s his brilliant Royal Ascot Queen Anne Stakes winner who claimed victory in all his three seasons.

Also travelling with Native Trail to Kelvinside and look to supplement the increasing band of Too Darn Hot’s client mare base, its Darley who states a power packed expression of Frankel speed.’

‘As Frankel’s best milling son he was rated 124 by Timeform as a brilliant winner of the Queen Anne, in defeating an elite field of four Champions and winner of 16 Group 1’s and 11 Group 2’s.’

“He likes to get on with it, and that’s the trait of Frankel,” said trainer Kevin Ryan, ‘as being ‘precocious as well as fast, being on the track in June at two, and won the Ascendant in record time.’

A Bay at 16.00hh, and the family of first generation multiple black type winners, his Teofilo half-sister Ajman Princess being Champion French Older Mare, and half to the dam of Gr1 Rosallino.

Multiple Group 2 winning 2yo Circular now retires to Darley Northwood Park in Victoria having trained on at three to land the Newmarket Handicap, just like his legendry sire Exceed and Excel.

In taking out the Group 2 Todman Stakes and Silver Slipper Stakes, he hit the lead at the 300m in the $5m Golden Slipper, but failed to hold off Shnizo by a length in 1-09.65 on a Good 4 track.

Returning as an early 3yo it was first up wins in the Vain Stakes and Run to The Rose before being third in the Golden Rose, and in the Autumn a 1¼ length defeat of Imperatriz in the Newmarket.

A Bay standing 15.3hh, he is set to be another high-achieving son of the great sire-of-sires Exceed And Excel, being the family of Lonhro, Niello, from the Group 3 winning Street Cry mare Circular.

Also new to Northwood Park is classic Caulfield Guineas hero Golden Mile, who in being an unbeaten juvenile was a Group winner from 1300 to 1600m, and at four won the Theo Marks Stakes.

Also, a Bay at 15.5hh, he’s from the Medaglia d’Oro sire line through his Golden Rose winning sire Astern, with his stakes winning Lonhro dam Calaverite a half-sister to juvenile Group winners.
