It’s the Magic Millions Gold Coast Weanling Sale for 2022, with an outstanding catalogue of 393 youngsters shaping up for 19, 20 May at the Gold Coast Sales Complex.
Said to be a rising-stars and pin-hookers paradise, it’s an impressive line-up of 24 first crop sires, while boasting top sire sales graduates Pierro and Zoustar and Golden Slipper hero Stay Inside.
With Darley’s Too Darn Hot topping the First Season Sires at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, his Majesty colt sold for $320,000 to POB Bloodstock, and posted a $165,167 average.
With all three weanlings to sell on Day 2, his 10 October foaled colt is first-up, being the third foal of the good winning Casino Prince mare Latitude, a half-sister to listed winner Sugar Boom.
Next is his August filly from the winning Sepoy mare Lusitania, the half-sister to Champion 3YO Filly Alinghi, followed by an October filly from Ocean Storm herself a half-sister to Your Song.
‘In being a Gr1 winner, by a Gr1 winner, from a Gr1 winner’ Too Darn Hot was European Champion 2YO and 3YO, sired by champion Dubawi from Watership Down’s valuable Dar Re Mi.
Also at Inglis, Champion European Sprinter Blue Point achieved a top $171,250 First Crop Sire average, his Lady Loire colt sold for $290,000 and In Europe his first foals made 300,000 Guineas.
This week, it’s a first foal from the Toronado mare Danaat, a colt from Full View the family of Redwood and an August colt from Redoute’s Choice mare Libre A Vous, the family of French Fifteen.
There’s no by-passing Spendthrift Australia’s Unreserved Dispersal of 12 quality lots for this National Weanling Sale with 9 sired by their Kentucky shuttlers Omaha Beach and Vino Rosso.
Santa Anita Sprint Champion Omaha Beach opens with first foals from Gr1 winner Santa Monica and stakes winner Solar Star, plus a half-sister to Tampa Bay Derby winner Prospective.
Breeders’ Cup Classic hero Vino Rosso has a filly from stakes placed winner Tizso Wicked, a colt from Western Gem the family of Western Empire, and Lot 191 a half-brother to Flowmotion.

The National Broodmare Sale of 696 catalogued lots, offers Australasia’s finest race fillies, maiden mares, young broodmares as well as proven producers commencing on Tuesday 24 May.
‘It’s the youngest catalogue of all time with 56% of the catalogue either a maiden mare or carrying their first cover, with 31% of all lots on Day 1 having already achieved black type.’
The second and third days not only features Australia’s best, but also those from the Northern Hemisphere with the likes of Camelot, Frankel, Kingman, Lope de Vega and Lord Kanaloa.
Staged on Tuesday 31 May and Wednesday 1 June the National Yearling Sale offers 476 youngsters sired by the likes of Capitalist, Deep Field, Dundeel Exceed And Excel, Extreme Choice, etc.
