“Jacquinot had speed, soundness, temperament and genuine Group One ability,” said trainer Mick Price, “and most importantly he had what all good stud colts have – tenacity.”
In fact, Widden Stud says he is the only Australian stallion to retire in 2023 as a weight-for-age winning 3YO, being the winner of the Golden Rose, like their Zoustar and the emerging Trapeze Artist.
Jacquinot defeated five Gr. 1 winners in the Golden Rose including In Secret, Fireburn, She’s Extreme, Golden Mile, Daumier and won the CF Orr as a 3yo, like Redoute’s Choice and All Too Hard.
He defeated six individual Gr.1 winners in the CF Orr, including I’m Thunderstruck and Mr Brightside, having earlier won the Manfred Stakes of 1300m and the McNeil Stakes at 1200m.
In having a 116 World Thoroughbred Ranking as a 3YO in 2022, Jacquinot at two-years won the Frank O’Brien 2YO Handicap of 1200m, and was third in the Blue Diamond Stakes to Daumier.
“Jacquinot has a pedigree that is a cocktail of some of the greatest influences on Australian breeding in recent times,” said respected Pedigree Analysis Louis Mihalyka of Laurel Oak Bloodstock.
“He is from the Encosta De Lago sireline, inbred to Redoute’s Choice’s dam Shantha’s Choice and carries strains of Danehill, Fairy King and his brother Sadler’s Wells, Zabeel, influential mare Rolls.”
“Her sire Mr. Prospector, and others, that provide a multitude of opportunities to inbreed and reinforce aspects of a mare’s pedigree by breeding to Jacquinot who’s beauty is his flexibility.”
“Jacquinot’s pedigree affinities with the broodmare band that not just restricted to specific broodmare sires but can also be found in the bottom half of a mare’s pedigree as so many second, third and fourth dam sires will complement the ancestor’s listed above.”
“Specific broodmare sires that complement Jacquinot’s pedigree include Zoustar, Headwater, Sebring, Pride of Dubai, Vancouver, Sepoy, Preferment and Teofilo amongst many others.”
A hansom 16hh bay, Jacuinot is certainly the best of his sire Rubick, being Leading Second Season Sire and Sire of 3YOs in Australia in 2019-20 and with 53.0% winners has sired winners of $34m in stakes plus the fastest Everest winner ever in Yes Yes Yes.
In being the immediate family of Randwick Guineas winner Inference, the Avondale and Auckland Guineas winner Dragon Leap, by Pierro, and Illation the Adelaide Guineas winner, he’s from the Pierro mare Ponterro tracing to the great mare Liberty Rose.
With ‘Snitzel Speed’ Bruckner retiring the Widden Victoria as the fastest ever son of four-times champion sire Snitzel, and a $725,000 sale top at the 2020 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
In fact, it was co-trainer Ciaron Maher in boasting said “we look forward to seeing his progeny on the racetrack in the coming years, hopefully they’re as stunning, athletic and talented as he is.”
In being the fastest ever son of four times campion sire Snitzel, Buckner ran a super-slick 1-10.45sec for the 1200m at Moonee Valley for the McNeil Stakes in defeating Artorius and Heresy.
However in his previous, and first ever race start, as a 3yo at Kembla Grange he ran an even faster 1-09.93sec for the 1200m, before later being second in the Coolmore Stud Stakes to Home Affairs and beating Artorius and third in the Danehill Stakes to Kallos and General Beau.
In fact, there’s no bypassing Snitzel who this season is already Leading Sire of 2YOs with Shinzo on target for the Golden Rose and second behind I Am Invincible on the General Sires Listings.
Last season Snitzel claimed his fourth Champion 2YO Sires title with record earnings of over $5m, and Shinzo as his second Golden Slipper winner but had 10 yearlings selling for $1m and above.
Directly related the Snitzel sired sire Jukebox, Bruckner is from the good winning Lonhro mare Jestajingle, and is the family of Kingston Town Classic winner Ihtsahymn and Catapulted.
