With 16? high-quality yearlings by leading sires Snitzel, I Am Invincible, Exceed and Excel, Written Tycoon, Toronado, Zourstar and Dundell, it’s the three by The Autumn Sun that’s thrilling.
In always looking above the horizon, its Milburn Creek Stud who’s seen the potential of The Autumn Sun, with Lot 156 being a good stepping righteous colt, from The Galaxy winner Griante.
Foaled 6 September, and a ¾ brother to the good winner Metro Legend, by Redoubt’s Choice, Griante herself is a ¾ sister to WA Derby winner Grand Journey, both sired by Good Journey.
Next up on Day 2, and selling at 1.25pm is The Autumn Sun-Secret Admirer filly being a half-sister to the Gr3 winner Danawi, the family of AJC Metropolitan winner Donegal Mist and Sir Dex.
An early season August foal, she’s the fifth produce of the Flight Stakes and Epsom Handicap winner Secret Admirer, by the outstanding sire Dubawi, and was Group 1 placed on eight occasions.
Late on Day 2, Milburn Creek has it’s free moving quality chestnut colt by The Autumn Sun selling as Lot 447 at 4.54pm, being from the stakes winning Hussonet mare Walk With Attitude.
Half-brother to four winners including the stakes winning Snitzel colt Zoukernio, and his stakes placed winning full-brother Spend, it’s the family of Eight Carat Classic winner Contessa Vanessa.
Previously at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott with Kestel Thoroughbreds paid $280,000 for The Autumn Sun-Summer Surf filly from Milburn.
In being the second foal of the winning Big Brown mare Summer Surf, who’s half-sister to the top-line 2yo Farnan that Gai Waterhouse and Tony Bott trained to capture the 2020 Golden Slipper.
And what of The Autumn Sun himself going into this Inglis Easter Yearling Sale at Riverside Stables with 28 lots to be sold, while at the Gold Coast his 14 yearlings averaging $266,786.
In this his second crop season, he had 76 of his first-crop yearlings in 2022 average $301,398, with 22 lots averaging $315,681 at Sydney Easter and 28 lots for $383,928 at the Magic Millions.
Already with his first 2yo’s this season Autumn Ballet won the Gr3 Black Opal Stakes at her only start, and in New Zealand Tulsi won over 1000m on debut and was third in the Gr1 Sistema Stakes.
Again, it’s Milburn Creek who knows that black type counts, with their Snitzel filly as Lot 70 being the first foal of the Fair Grounds Oaks winner Chocolate Martini, the family of Gr1 Ladies Din.
First up, it’s the Hellbent colt whose winning dam Angasi is the family of Gr1 sire Kermadec, while the Shamus Award colt has his winning dam Curl Up as a half-sister to Champagne Cuddles.
With the Dundeel-French Skyline filly being the family of top-liners Hasahalo, All Saints’ Eve and All Hallows’ Eve, it’s the Written Tycoon filly from stakes winner Hell or Highwater at 2.55pm.
Next, it’s the I Am Invincible-Lakshmibai filly being the family of Champion 2YO Earthquake, while the Toronado-Last Bling colt that’s the family of Makybe Diva, through grandam Valkyrie Diva.
As the Shamus Award half-brother to Ellsberg is now withdrawn, it’s the Blue Point colt who sells early on Day 2, a half-brother to Beethoven, with his dam Molto Allegro as the family of Jukebox.
Then it’s the Zoustar filly being the second foal of the Group 3 winner Sexy Eyes, while the all-conquering Exceed and Excel had a colt from Soft Kisses, family of US Group 1 winner CS Silk.
Lot 416 on Day 2 is the Dundeel colt, a half-brother to Magic Time from the SAJC Sires winner Time Awaits, while the Too Darn Hot-Valdemoro colt is the close family of sire Highland Reel.
