Danny O’Brien is gearing up to unveil the first racehorse sired by Russian Camelot, with Grinzinger Tundra set to debut in the VOBIS Gold Plate at Flemington this Saturday.
O’Brien, who trained the former superstar stallion, is eager to see how his progeny performs on the track.
Grinzinger Tundra has shown promise in trials, and O’Brien believes the young horse shares many physical traits with his sire.
While confident in the colt’s ability, the trainer expects Russian Camelot’s offspring to truly shine as three-year-olds.
“I think he’s the first one to make it to the races,” O’Brien said.
“We’ve had a few trials and jumpouts so it’s special that our stable can get one to the races.
“He’s well educated, he had a good, strong preparation in the spring and went to the trials at Ballarat.
“He’s furnished a lot since then and he trialled up really nicely for us last Friday.
“I think he’ll run a race.”
