10/10/2019 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Woodbine

Our Canadian expert Ric Chapman has looked over the fields for the midweek meeting out of Woodbine (Thursday morning in Australia) . Here are his thoughts and tips.

Race 1 8:45am 1200m Synthetic

Kazushi Kimura is good on a speedster and I suspect PEUT ETRE is going to fly the lids and try and steel this. She is down in class and very fit having raced in longer events quite well of late, has no weight on her back so she should string them along. BLONDE ATTITUDE, despite the connotations of her name, is smart at this level. Has pace if needed, and can sit back and run on. Will most likely sit behind pace and come hard late while DAYMARE is in strong stable and will be well ridden.

TIPS: (3) PEUT ETRE, (2) Blonde Attitude, (4) Daymare

Race 2 9:15am 1000m Mdn Synthetic

COOLWATER may be the best bet of the night. She has form on this surface and in better company at that. Has mixed her form of late but this is so weak you and I could run relay and stay with the pack. MISS DANIELLE has talent enough for this grade and is drawn to get the gun run with the star apprentice. Money will come for her. ADABEL may provide the pace here. She was 3rd last start and has sufficient dash this lower level to be right there all the way.

TIPS: (3) COOLWATER, (7) Adabel, (4) Miss Danielle

Race 3 9:43am 1700m Synthetic

This filly HMS PINAFORE might be heading places. She is really honest and tough and from this draw she looks perfectly suited. Is in form, back in grade and trip looks perfect. The money will come for LOVE DADDY. She is racing sweetly of late and did win similar race 2 starts back. From the gate should not use up to much energy. SOTHATSTHEWAYITIS is fast and looks the pace in the race. Around this track, if you are the lone speed you can be very hard to catch.

TIPS: (3) SOTHATSTHEWAYITIS, (2) HMS Pinafore, (1) Love Daddy.

Race 4 10:12am 1200m Synthetic

In what may be the slowest field seen this year, MY CANTATA looks nicely placed. They backed her last start in a stronger race and she struggled home final 200m when 5th. Will like this. On form, SNELL FLICKA is a chance because she was 3rd at this level last start. CAPTURE ME HEART has needed a couple of runs to find her feet but tonight she can sit back and run home hard.

TIPS: (6) MY CANTATA, (1) Capture My Heart, (7) Snell Flicka

Race 5 10:45am 1200m 2YO Synthetic

I don’t think WAKE UP MAGGIE has to lead this to win. She is one of the most impressive juveniles at Woodbine and from here has the choice of punching up or sitting off probable leader ARTIE’S PRINCESS. Either way her power down the straight should prevail, but have Artie in with your numbers too. SAVVY’S SISATER works like she should have talent so is a place shot.

TIPS: (1) WAKE UP MAGGIE, (6) Artie’s Princess, (2) Savvy’s Sister

Race 6 11:15am 1700m Turf

TIZ MY RIGHT ticks a few boxes here. Is fit, is with top trainer, has the great draw and despite the big weight, should be right behind speed and look the winner at some stage. FROST DANCE is down in grade for this and the money says she can improve on poor effort in tougher race last start. BENEVIDA out wide will probably slot in. Has late enough dash for this level.

TIPS: (2) TIZ MY RIGHT, (9) Benevida, (3) Frost Dance

Race 7 11:45am 1700m Synthetic

BOOMBA BRAD drops in grade here and also goes back to the synthetic, a surface he has had success on. Drawn to sit with cover and looms as one of the best hopes. BEAR TREASURE beat Boomba Brad home last start. That was on grass. This surface evens it up a bit but must be considered. The one they have to beat though is MOON MAGIC. He sat deep and plugged on gamely last start in a much, much stronger race. Should be able to find cover here and should out kick these down the straight.

TIPS: (8) MOON MAGIC, (3) Boomba Brad, (4) Bear Treasure
