Ok punters gather around.
Woodbine is Canada’s number 1 racetrack and if the truth be known, it is the BEST racetrack in all of North America.
The bends are easy, the turf and the Tapeta surfaces are brilliant on the horses, and the form tends to hold up extremely well.
We start today with a comprehensive look at ALL the races on the Thursday morning (Aussie time) card.
So get up early, have a bet on TAB or the corporates, and Good luck. Boxing all the tips up works best.
Woodbine R1 – $40,000 Claimer 2000m – Abt 8:45am
This looks a race in two. FLORIDA WON sat behind the speed last start, gifting the lone leader his win. Probably needed the run and should strip fitter here. Drawn to get run of the race and his trainer is the King of this track. Speaking of king, KING AND HIS COURT look well placed here too. No surprise to see him go forward and the grade is up his alley. RED BO is dropping in grade here. Needs to lift but weaker company will help do that.
Tip: 1. KING AND HIS COURT, 2. Florida Win, 3. Red Bo
Woodbine R2 – $7,500 Claimer 1500m – 9:15am
Off the inside draw KATE’S WHISTLE is well advantaged. She has enough pace to hunt up and stalk the leader and to be fair, this is a pretty weak field. The whiz kid apprentice rides too. CELTIC SINGER has been working well for her new connections. She was claimed last start when failing on the Tapeta (synthetic) and now makes her first start for back on the turf. Is down a long way in grade. STORMY VISION is weak but is the only real pace in this race and may just get left alone in front for a long way at big odds. Chance.
Tip: 1. KATE’S WHISTLE, Stormy Vision, 3. Celtic Singer
Woodbine R3 – Mdn Claimer $25,000 1400m – 9:43am
The old adage ‘where there is smoke there is fire’ is at play here. EZME’S GIRL was heavily backed to win on debut but had no luck in the run being posted deep throughout. Still p0lugged on well to get 3rd. Surely experience and fitness improve her here. PEACE CONTROL is smart enough to test these. Has been racing in tougher and longer races of late and fading last little bit. Gets all the advantages this time. LILIBET has been working well and has talent this grade.
Tip: 1. EZME’S GIRL, 2. Peace Control, 3. Lilibet
Woodbine R4 – $25,000 Claimer 1400m – 10:15am
It just makes perfect sense to be on QUEEN ANDHER COURT here. She has the top rider, drawn perfectly, is tough and well we thought King And His Court could win earlier in the day. BIG MAMBA has wheels too and is in this very well. Mind you that was the case last start but she copped a check at a vital stage down the running when looking likely. Set to atone this time around. GOLDEN PEARL should get out in the market after being costly last start when facing the breeze all the way. Better placed here in a shorter race.
Tip: 1. BIG MAMBA, 2. Queen Andher Court, 3. Golden Pearl
Woodbine R5 – $8,500 Claimer 1400m – 10:48am
The fact UNSEEN ANGELS has drawn inside her major rival here in HAILEY’S PRIZE means she could take the early lead and be on the fence. Which most times is the coveted spot. rain overnight helps the pace setter too. The other mare is good this grade also. Quinella them. LIGHT MY PATH has finishing power. is lightly raced but this isn’t strong and there will be a lot of speed early. Place hope.
Tip: 1. UNSEEN ANGELS, 2. Hailey’s Prize, 3. Light My Path
Woodbine R6 – Mdn Optional $40K Claimer 1000m – 11:20am
SHARP’S RIVER has the whiz kid apprentice on board and has drawn perfectly. On debut here but has been setting the tracks alight in workouts. Watch betting moves. SEVENTH WONDER has raced and showed talent before spell. has since been gelded and this is first start since that performance-enhancing op! DANCING DEREK has the benefit of one really tough initiation when hanging on for 2nd in this grade. Will go hard early. Big show.
Tip: 1. SHARP’S RIVER, Dancing Derek, 3. Seventh Wonder
Woodbine R7 – $40,000 Optional Claimer 1200m – 11:45am
Tough race. Very open affair. Small field but all of them have strong claims. Perhaps box up GLITTERING SNOW because of the great gate, GOLDEN VISION who will sit just behidn speed and has a touch of honesty about her, and the one rising in grade after leading all way to win a strong mdn on debut last start, TOUCH OF ROUGE.
Tip: 1. TOUCH OF ROUGE, 2. Golden Vision, 3. Glittering Snow
Woodbine R8 – $14,000 Claimer 1700m – 12:15pm
CRUMLIN GAL could finish this off hard. She stepped up in trip for the first time last start, albeit in weaker grade, and finished really well to win. May have found her comfort zone. FLAT OUT VIXEN wasn’t in the hunt at the very much stronger allowance level against own age on the grass last start. Her May 26 effort against $40,000/Ontario Sired foes suggested this big drop in grade was within her wheelhouse. MYSTERY DAY is disappointing but works well and has a top rider on. So someone has confidence.
Tip: 1. FLAT OUT VIXEN, 2. Crumlin Gal, 3. Mystery Day
