American Pharoah has ended US racing’s 37-year Triple Crown drought with an all-the-way victory in the Belmont Stakes.
After he jumped slowly out of the gate, Victor Espinoza drove him to the front and controlled the race on the Bob Baffert-trained colt.
He is the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to add the Belmont Stakes (2400m) to his wins in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.
