California Chrome has beaten Arrogate to be named United States Horse of the Year for a second time.
The two will race each other in Sunday’s Pegasus Stakes, California Chrome’s final race before he goes to stud.
Arrogate won the Eclipse Award as champion three-year-old while California Chrome was the champion older male on dirt.
The pair are at the top of the rankings for the World’s Best Racehorse award to be announced in London this week with Australian champion Winx a clear leader in the turf category.
