Champion Japanese jockey Yutaka Take has reached a milestone 100th Group One win aboard Tosen Ra in the Mile Championship at Kyoto.
Tosen Ra normally races over longer distances but ran in Sunday’s Mile in preference to next week’s Japan Cup in Tokyo because of his liking for the Kyoto track.
Take, who won the Mile last year on Sadamu Patek, said Tosen Ra was strong to the line.
“The horse was really strong and ran a great race,” Take said.
“He responded impressively when urged at the top of the stretch. He was in good form and everything seemed to fit in well for this victory.
“I am very pleased to be able to achieve this milestone of (my) 100th career Group One win, but I hope to capture more titles in the future.”
The 44-year-old has registered 68 Group One wins with the Japanese Racing Association, 25 in the second tier NAR and seven overseas – four in France and one each in England, Hong Kong and Dubai.
