Lynam hoping for winning Power at Sha Tin

Eddie Lynam is pleased with the condition of his two star sprinters Sole Power and Slade Power ahead of the Hong Kong Sprint on Sunday.

The Irish handler is in the envious position have having two of the best sprinters in Europe in his care and both have travelled to the Far East.

Sole Power won the King’s Stand at Ascot in June while his stablemate won the Group Two Sprint on British Champions Day in October.

Lynam was at the track for the first time on Tuesday morning to check on the condition of his runners.

“They have both travelled well and have settled in here with no bother, which is the main thing,” said Lynam.

“I hope they will run their races on Sunday. Sole Power has been running well all season, he’s an experienced horse, getting wiser as he gets older – a bit like his trainer!

“He’ll need to run a lot better than he did in this race two years ago (ninth in 2011), but if he relaxes in the race, he’ll get the six furlongs all right. He’s fresh and well and his training has been good.

“Slade Power is an improving horse, winning a couple of Group Three races, being placed in a Group One race, and winning a Group Two. If he breaks well, he’ll run a good race.”

Lynam plans to put Slade Power through the stalls on Friday morning in an attempt to sharpen up his start which can sometimes cost him valuable ground.
