Rich prize in Dubai for Tapestry

Hong Kong sprinter Rich Tapestry has claimed another international prize with victory on the dirt at Meydan in Dubai.

After the favourite Marking dumped James Doyle coming out of the gates, the free-running Rich Tapestry led all the way for Gerald Mosse.

The Michael Chang-trained Rich Tapestry won a Group Three race in Dubai in 2014 before running second in the Group One Golden Shaheen on World Cup night.

Later that year, he became the first Hong Kong-trained winner in North America when he claimed a Grade One sprint on dirt at Santa Anita.

His win on Thursday gave the much-travelled Mosse his first win at Meydan.

β€œHe loved the dirt, he has natural speed and just played with them all the way round,” Mosse said.

β€œHe’s a beautiful horse to ride but he’s a totally different horse on dirt to turf.”

Chang said rich Tapestry would remain in Dubai for the carnival.

β€œHe loves Dubai and he loves the dirt,” he said.

β€œHe’s better when he’s in Dubai longer than just coming for one race, so I think he’ll run on Super Saturday as well.”
