Singapore Turf Club ups its game

After seemingly marking time for several seasons, largely due to the negative impact of Covid, Singapore Turf Club’s release of their fixture list for the period April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 has given great cause for optimism about the future of racing in the precinct as it has doubled the amount of feature races (from 10, in the current season, to 20) as well as documenting the reinstatement of four iconic race series.

β€œThe revamped racing fixtures is particularly designed to bring greater prestige to the sport when runners have more feature races at their disposal. Race series takes the sport to a higher level by challenging the tenacity of champion horses and offering them additional impetus to excel,” said Dayle Brown, Chief Racing Officer of the Singapore Turf Club.

β€œThe new fixtures ensure a progressive pathway for our racehorses, and I am looking forward to how trainers will be building their racehorse profiles and strategies for the new racing season to take full advantage of the fixtures and series,” added Brown.

The new schedule lists forty-eight race meetings comprised of thirty-seven Saturdays and eleven Sunday meetings.

Twenty-three of those meetings will be programmed to have eleven races each while the remaining twenty-five meetings will each have twelve races carded – with those 553 races, covering all grades, providing a welcome, bolstered and enhanced opportunity for all racing participants across the board.
