Race 1
LADY AMEERA made a decent enough debut when staying on well in second and can make amends as the 1200m trip should be right up her alley. KIMBERLY CRUISE should have won her maiden by now and if ready after a rest could finally open her account. MONIZ ran a fair race after rest even though squeezed at the jump and is another that has a shout. DESTINYβS LADY should improve.
Race 2
GO FIRST CLASS was seen making up the ground with good long strides and perhaps unlucky not score in her second start. She looks tough to oppose as she holds main opposition CRUELLA by 2.25 lengths. The Vaal track is quicker and she will need to be up there but she is having her third start and is likely to know a lot more about racing now.
Race 3
NAPOLEON STREET seems to prefer a bit shorter but he is a natural pacemaker and with Piere Strydom in the irons at a fast track will have every chance. HOMESIDE made up a heap of ground on the sand when a decent fourth last time and could have more to come. INDIGO AMIGO is starting to put it together and can improve on his earlier Vaal efforts. PAGEANT PAGE can earn.
Race 4
CIELO DORADO was quite promising at the Cape having won his debut easily and then running two decent races in fair company. Watch him. MAJESTIC LEGEND is well-weighted and probably the one to beat as she showed sheβs fit and ready with a second place finish after rest. KICKSTART is ultra- consistent and will be there along with MZINGELI and capable AZANIAN GIANT.
Race 5
PAINT THE TOWN spread a shoe and finished distressed on sand last time-ignore that run. She has run some good races over this track and trip. STRIKE CRAFT needed her last try over 1600m and it wasnβt a bad run at all. She can make amends. ERUPTION is back on the straight track and could fly up to score. It should be close between her and IDITAROD again.
Race 6
ROMAN TIMES seems well suited to the longer trip he tries and looks well placed to follow up. PACIFIC WARRIOR should have the measure of GENEVA on two of their last three meetings. Pacific Warrior is the proven stayer in the race and has a fair chance. GENEVA runs on well when the race is run to suit-he must be respected. FIELD GATE has done little wrong-chance again.
Race 7
SOLIDARITY is improving with each start in the Highveld and looks well placed to follow up but tries the Vaal track this time. FOREST OF DREAMS is better than his last effort at Turffontein and must be given a decent chance on his penultimate when beating Seattle Ice. BERNABEU rises in class but could be up to it. KING WILLIAM and MR WOLF look next best-tough race.
Race 8
STARRY LEAF seemed better suited to a bit of ground last time and back on the Vaal where he won, can step up nicely. GATE BARON should hold FLINTOFF back on turf but the latter is holding form and it could be a close contest at the Vaal track. ROYAL EXPRESS put up a decent effort after his maiden win and is worth respecting. GOLDEN CUP looks back to best-consider.
