Hong Kong galloper Pakistan Star will once again have to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being allowed to race again despite storming home to finish fourth in the Chairman’s Trophy at Sha Tin on Sunday.
The cult horse has had a troubled history after refusing to race on a number of occasions and has previously had to trial on numerous occasions before being allowed to return to racing.
On Sunday punters again had their hearts in their mouths as Pakistan Star began to lose contact with the field and had to be ridden aggressively by star jockey Joao Moreira a long way out.
Moreira managed to keep the Tony Cruz-trained gelding racing and having tacked onto the field Pakistan Star then showed his customary turn of foot to flash home for fourth, just a length off the winner.
Despite the eye-catching finish, stewards ruled that Pakistan Star must barrier trial satisfactorily over 1600 Metres on the turf prior to being permitted to race again.
