The Perth Cup-winning hoop says he would often be invited to speak at his daughters and nieces schools but has but would no longer be welcome because it ‘promotes gambling’.
“I’ve got my two daughters and I’ve got six nieces so as they are all growing up, when Melbourne Cup comes around, I’ve always been asked to come along and talk at their schools.” Hall told 6PR Breakfast.
“The kids really love it and they’re quite interested and they ask some really good questions too,”
“I had a little bit of a chuckle at first because it seemed a little bit surreal and then once I realised… I was shocked to tell you the truth.”
Hall, who rode Black Tom in the 2007 Melbourne Cup, says the topic of gambling isn’t even mentioned when he visits schools.
“None at all. We’ve just had Winx race on the weekend for the Cox Plate and that would’ve grabbed everyone’s attention and I’m sure the message that it provides is the love of the horses,”
