Lisa Cropp will front a stewards inquiry on Tuesday after testing positive to the prohibited substance zopiclone in a urine sample last month.
Zopiclone is used in the treatment of insomnia and Cropp has shown stewards a doctor’s letter prescribing the medication.
She was stood down from riding at Sale last Wednesday and has not been allowed to ride since.
She provided a urine sample last Thursday and the results of that will be known before the inquiry.
Racing Victoria Integrity Services executive Dayle Brown said when and whether Cropp would be allowed to resume riding was dependent on the outcome of Tuesday’s inquiry.
“Stewards will consider the doctor’s letter. That will be part of the inquiry,” Brown said.
It is believed Cropp forgot to inform stewards of the prescribed medication.
A multiple Group One-winning jockey and premiership winner in New Zealand, Cropp served a lengthy suspension after a drawn out inquiry into a positive swab taken at Te Rapa in 2005 which revealed the presence of methamphetamine.
Cropp, who has also suffered serious injuries over the years including a broken neck, resurrected her career in Victoria in late 2010.
She is at number 13 in the Victorian premiership with 31 wins this season.
