Steady Ready, the accomplished sprinter who recently clinched victory in the $750,000 King Of The Mountain slot race in Toowoomba, is setting his sights on new challenges in Melbourne.
Following the impressive win, connections of the talented runner have expressed their intent to target upcoming races in the southern racing capital, with co trainer Maddy Sears saying a trip to Melbourne is on the cards.
“Myself and Dad were talking at breakfast and we’d really like to give him a crack down the Flemington straight in Melbourne or one of those 1000m races at Moonee Valley,” Sears told Racenet.
“He’s a very, very fast horse and it’s something we’ve spoken about quite a bit.
“We’re going to have a bit of a look once the dust settles and see what’s around.
“He’s easily one of the best sprinters in Queensland and he’s proven that.
“He’s had 19 starts and been in the top three for 15 of them and he’s clocked over $1 million in prizemoney now. He’s such an easy horse to train, he’s a gem.”
The decision reflects their growing confidence in Steady Ready’s ability to compete on the bigger stage.
His remarkable performance in Toowoomba has not only bolstered his reputation but also positioned him as a potential contender in Melbourne’s competitive racing scene.
The move signals an exciting new chapter for the horse, as his team prepares to take on the challenge of racing against some of the best in the country.
