Australian Group One races are the most prestigious and esteemed thoroughbred races and currently offer a minimum of $400,000 in prize money.
While some Group One races are more highly regarded than others, the thought of winning or even competing in a Group 1 race is a dream for the majority owners, jockeys, and trainers.
The Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate are the most prestigious Group 1 races held over the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
The Sydney Autumn Carnival also plays host to a number of Group One races with the Golden Slipper for two-year-old being a showcase race.
Queensland racing comes alive during the Brisbane Winter Carnival with the $1.5 million Stradbroke Handicap being the highlight of the 8 group one races run.
South Australia’s Autumn Carnival plays host to four Group One races while Western Australia host 3 Group One races throughout November and December.
