Tasmania gets to showcase their talent during the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival held in February each year.
The island state only hosts a handful of group and listed races each year with the Group 3 Hobart Cup being the highlight of their Summer Carnival.
Tasmanian Derby day kicks off the three week carnival at Hobart Racecourse. The listed Tasmanian Derby is worth $150,000 while the Group 3 Bow Mistress Trophy is also run on the same day.
Launceston Cup day at Launceston racecourse wraps up the Summer Carnival with the $200,000 Launceston Cup being the feature race on the day.
Both Launceston and Hobart race clubs host listed stakes races during the months of November and December.
