SA metro racing this Saturday heads to Murray Bridge. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (12:47) Ae & Me Langsford Contr.-bm62 1000m
Looks to be a stack of speed here, and the set up is ideal for 3 Star Espresso (Bet Now: $4.00), who won two weeks ago at Gawler when getting the dream sit off the speed before peeling into clear air and finishing over the top for a good win. Maps to get the A1 run and with the claim, is hard to beat.
5 Brazen Boy (Bet Now: $9.50) deserves another chance. Phillip Stokes trained three year old that was kept quite safe in betting first up at Gawler over 1100m where he led and looked to travel well, but just got the staggers late when third to Star Espresso. Back to 1000m and onto a track he has won at are two big ticks.
6 Emerald Court (Bet Now: $6.00) has done little wrong in her three start career. Impressive debut winner on the Parks track before being far from disgraced against the older horses at Gawler. Then raced there again against her own age and was far from disgraced behind Star Espresso. Hard to beat here.
Race 2. (13:22) Magic Millions (bm68) 2500m
3 Sheezabigdeel (Bet Now: $2.70) brings the Victorian form and that usually is the way to go in these average staying races in SA, and this is well and truly and an average staying race. On speed at Terang last time after a few weeks off and battled on pretty well in defeat when third. Pannell on, thin race, she’ll do me.
2 Bronski (Bet Now: $3.80) is a little query at 2500m but he does seem as if he’ll be okay at it given he’s quite one paced and will just keep at the same speed. He tried his guts out at Gawler last time out but had no answers for the finale of Fighter, who went so well on Boxing Day, so the form reads well. Just has to tick the 2500m box.
5 Blue Bear (Bet Now: $8.00) isn’t the most reliable horse going around but can bounce back in a race like this. Forget his effort on Boxing Day at Morphettville, where he got back to near last in the run and failed to come on behind Ichibansan. Back to this level, he appeals as a knockout chance.
Race 3. (13:57) Tab Mdn Plate 1000m
6 Kasami (Bet Now: $6.00) finds a very winnable maiden for Henry Dwyer. Hasn’t raced since her resumption at Ararat back on November 30 where she got a fair way back in the run and did make ground but was never really a winning threat. Can use the gate to advantage and just brings the better form.
3 Stars The Limit (Bet Now: $1.70) is a Team Jolly trained three year old that resumes. He had a two run Winter prep to start his career, placing each time in good efforts. Form around those two races looks on the suspect side but didn’t mind a recent jumpout so watch the market.
2 Anjopin (Bet Now: $12.00) is a son of Danbird on debut for Team Jaensch. This three year old is trained on the track and first start here on a Saturday meeting, you would suspect that he’s wound up for a forward showing. Stable isn’t normally known for producing a first starter, so watch the market.
Race 4. (14:32) Watson's Landscaping (bm72) 1000m
7 Tanja’s Dream (Bet Now: $3.40) has sustained speed from the front and that is such an ideal recipe for short course racing. I’ve given Ben Price a pasting in recent weeks, but credit to him for a great positive ride on this girl at Gawler last time. Drew wide, but took bad luck out of the equation by hunting forward and the mare bolted up. Like her back to 1000m and is hard to run down.
1 Heka Express (Bet Now: $3.80) is a mare that is racing so well at the moment. Peach steer from Crowther saw this girl bolt up last time out on the Parks track, siting wide with cover before being turned loose in the straight and winning comfortably. Hard to beat with luck from the draw.
8 Ideas Man (Bet Now: $7.00) has been somewhat disappointing since joining David Jolly but is rarely far away. Ran on Boxing Day when wide no cover on a hot speed and battled on really well behind Great Leveller. He must have come through the run in good order to back up.
Race 5. (15:12) Celeb. Ron Morgan's Life-bm78 1800m
Looking at this race with Vardani out. 7 Tradewind (Bet Now: $4.50) has found winning form and I think he can go on with it. It wasn’t a strong field he beat up at Morphettville last time out but it was a much needed confidence boost after a string of runs suggesting he was ready to break through. Now that he has, he can win again.
6 Dr Dee Dee (Bet Now: $3.80) will love the rise in trip. Ran over the mile at Morphettville in a Series Final and worked home strongly from near last in the run when fifth to Picaroon, a progressive mare, so I think the form reads well. 1800m should be fine and likes Murray Bridge.
10 Calburn (Bet Now: $15.00) should be suited here. Ran over 1800m at Morphettville last time and worked to the line pretty well in a race dominated by the leader and eventual winner, Ichibansan, who won on Boxing Day, so the form reads well and he does find a winnable assignment.
Race 6. (15:52) Dutton's Easy To Do Bus.-bm60 1600m
7 Kung Fu Fighting (Bet Now: $2.50) is a progressive three year old for Team McEvoy that savaged the line late to win on debut over 1400m here. He knuckled down with real purpose the final 100m to get up on the peg. He’ll eat up the mile, got more upside than most and in the right camp.
10 Canidae (Bet Now: $8.50) is racing well for the Hickmott/Riggs camp. Ran in a weak sort of race at Oakbank last time out but depth aside, he was a sharp winner over 1400m and loved the way he attacked the line late. I think the mile will be okay for him and finds a race with little overall depth.
3 Crypto Currency (Bet Now: $4.60) is trained on the track and you would think has been targeted towards this meeting. Was good late fresh at Naracoorte and looked to be on track for a win. The next two runs have been somewhat inconclusive, whether he’s gone off the boil, or the stable have had this meeting in mind. Watch the market.
Race 7. (16:32) Irongate (bm64) 900m
6 Self Suficient (Bet Now: $7.00) looks a short course horse so I like him at 900m. Resumed over 1050m at Morphettville where he just found them a bit sharp fresh but was sound in defeat behind a talented animal, Fighting McLaren. Has that run under the belt and can settle much closer in the run.
1 Rising Sphere (Bet Now: $5.50) gets another chance for me. Dominant win two back at Geelong before racing at Morphettville three weeks ago where he was on speed and using plenty of petrol tickets, just feeling the pinch late behind Great Leveller. If he can get on speed without spending too many petrol tickets, he can bounce back.
2 Appalachian (Bet Now: $2.80) is a smart animal that I think can win again. Market didn’t want a bar of him when he resumed several weeks ago on the Parks track and though his condition was probably running out late, but he found when required and surged hard late to win. With improvement off that, he commands respect here.
Race 8. (17:12) Carlton Draught (bm68) 1400m
Back to 1400m I do like for 9 Spectacle (Bet Now: $4.40). Ran over the mile in a Series Final at Morphettville and got every chance behind the speed. He was there to win and looked the winner for a few strides but probably just found the mile a bridge too far. Back to 1400m and onto a track the stable love, she’s hard to beat.
8 Point Blaze (Bet Now: $4.50) has done a super job this time in for Shayne Cahill. Lovely ride from Crowther saw her win last time out, getting the suck run behind the speed and finishing best in a strong performance. That was her first run in five weeks so you’d like to think there is improvement to come.
6 Li’l Hank (Bet Now: $14.00) looks targeted at this race given he’s on his home track and comes here with a 1200m prep run at Gawler off a freshen up when back in the run and closing off okay behind dominant winner Dominus. Up to 1400m on his home track, expecing him to bounce back hard.
Race 9. (17:52) Faulty Towers @ Bridges (bm60) 1200m
13 Lianne (Bet Now: $18.00) has to be the bet here. Formerly with the Ellerton/Zahra camp, now is with Jordan Frew and gee she could spank these if she produces somewhere near her best. While she has been racing well in recent times, she hasn’t been winning. First run for the camp, she’s the one for me in the get out.
8 Justa Jillaroo (Bet Now: $17.00) should measure up here for Dennis O’Leary. Good change up speed saw her win impressively two back at Naracoorte. She then had a few weeks let up before going to Bordertown. She was trucking in the run but couldn’t get a chance to build up proper momentum when a close up third. If she gets the rub of the green here, she can win.
17 Two Odd Sox (Bet Now: $9.00) isn’t a horse I could back to win but is one I can entertain for multiples. He ran in the Great Leveller race from a few weeks back and closed off his race alright. His winning strike rate is terrible, so not a win bet option, but he’s one that can sneak a first four spot.
