Run To The Rose 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Run To The Rose
Race 1. (11:40) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1400m
I like 1 Jalmari (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) here in the Highway. He ran in the Highway last Saturday at Randwick and he was very good, the run of the race IMO given he was wide against the bias and had no chance, but found the line very nicely behind Opal Ridge. 3kg claim for McLucas, he maps okay and is an each way bet for sure.
2 Zaru (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) should be around the mark. Tough win over 1300m here two back in a Highway here. He then raced over 1400m here two weeks back and he looked the winner when presented but I just reckon 1400m sees him right out. He’s flying, racing well and commands respect.
3 Absolute Trust (Bet Now: $41.00 TOP ODDS) doesn’t want too much more rain to hit the track but I think he’s going well. He contested a solid Provincial race at Gosford and didn’t really get the rub of the green when it counted behind Garmish, a handy horse. Soft gate, if the track isn’t too bad, he’s in the mix.
Race 2. (12:15) Midway (Bm72) 1200m
The bat is being played straight here with 3 Daralina Belle (Bet Now: $4.50 TOP ODDS). He ran three weeks ago at Doomben and didn’t quite get the rub of the green when it counted when fourth to Miss Divine Em. Gets run of the race from the gate, provided it is used, and gets the claim for Gibbons. She’ll do me.
8 Kipsbay (Bet Now: $4.80 TOP ODDS) is a horse I have time for. Nathan Doyle trained gelding that made a mess of them fresh at Gosford, beating a city class mare in Laurelin, making a sustained run and was far too good. Went out last prep on a high and has come back in super order. He’s the main threat.
I want to give 10 McCormack (Bet Now: $26.00 TOP ODDS) another chance. Tracey Bartley trained gelding that ran in a Midway several weeks ago here when wide no cover for the trip and the effort told late, finishing midfield behind the well tried Bazooka. Like him back in trip and with a more economical run, he’ll run a cheeky race.
Race 3. (12:50) Ranvet (Bm78) 2400m
9 Oz Legend (Bet Now: $9.00 TOP ODDS) has been a working progress for Chris Waller but I reckon he’s cherry ripe for this. He ran over 2000m here two weeks ago here and was very good from the back in a Waller domination, finishing third to Born A King. He has won up to 2212m in the UK so I think 2400m here is okay and is just about at peak fitness.
6 First Light (Bet Now: $7.50 TOP ODDS) is knocking on the door to win a race in Australia. He ran over 2000m at Rosehill a couple of weeks back and tried his guts out but was no match late for Born A King, who looked absolutely thrown in at the weights and spanked them. First Light stuck on well and beaten the rest comfortably. Hard to beat.
12 Lord Desanimaux (Bet Now: $14.00 TOP ODDS) deserves a crack at this race. He was smashed in betting at Warwick Farm last time and he gave them a spanking. He was trucking in the run and it was just a matter of pushing the button. He put them away impressively and is certainly in the mix here.
Race 4. (13:25) Download The Tab App (Bm78) 1800m
5 Hameron (Bet Now: $2.20 TOP ODDS) is a stayer I have time for. Chris Waller trained gelding that resumed at the midweeks on the Kenso where he looked a good thing on paper but the ride from Gibbons ensured that was the case, putting it into the sweet spot and he bolted up. Tick over trial was good, fitter, up to 1800m, it all points to him running well and likely winning again.
A key threat here is clearly 12 Pink Ivory (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS). John Sargent trained mare that resumed on the Kenso track here where she got back to near last in the run and worked home strongly, clocking some of the better late splits. Fitter, up to 1800m, with class, it all points to her running well. The gate is the issue and how far back she gets.
1 Fun Fact (Bet Now: $11.00 TOP ODDS) is an improver at odds. He resumed three weeks back at Randwick where he was on speed throughout and fought on pretty well in defeat behind a handy mare, Niffler. Might want one more, but fitter and up to 1800m are two big ticks and the resumption was encouraging.
Race 5. (14:00) Greg Davis (Bm88) 1100m
6 Clemenceau (Bet Now: $3.00) has the engine under the hood to do a number on these. Team Hawkes trained gelding that is first up after a two run Autumn prep, where he raced at Caulfield on each occasion, bolting up fresh before running second as a short priced elect. Trials have been solid without jumping up and down, but he does look quite progressive.
5 Bacchanalia (Bet Now: $4.60) looks to be flying for James Cummings. Quality four year old that resumes after a two run SA prep where he was looking towards the Goodwood but couldn’t quite get there. Given a break and his two trials to get ready have been quite strong to the eye, so keen to see how he resumes.
Will the gelding operation be the making of 2 Remarque? (Bet Now: $4.20) He’s the best trialler in Australia but unfortunately hasn’t produced it on race day. His trials have been good and he has been on speed each time, trucking, so I suspect drawn wide here, they’ll press forward and look to go throughout. Watch the market.
Race 6. (14:40) Ming Dynasty Qlty 1400m
9 Flag Of Honour (Bet Now: $13.00) is a youngster I have time for and I know Kris Lees has a good opinion of him. Class got him home on debut at Newcastle before going to Rosehill where he sat off the speed but came with a well timed run under Bowman to nab Alberich late, a horse with good talent. Kept on ice for the Spring, he creates interest.
12 Conqueror (Bet Now: $5.50) is an interesting horse. He resumed a few weeks ago at Randwick where he got too far back in the run but made up solid headway late behind impressive winner Arnaqueur. Has trialled since and IMO, he looked strong. If he behaves himself in the gates, he’ll take beating.
4 Basquiat (Bet Now: $10.00) deserves another look. He resumed two weeks ago in the Up And Coming where he had the drag up behind Kibou and tried hard, but that horse had the race fitness, had it cheap it front and just outsprinted them. Fitter and up to 1400m, his best is good enough to be dangerous.
Race 7. (15:15) Run To The Rose 1200m
I think this is D-Day for 1 Best Of Bordeaux (Bet Now: $3.50). He resumed in the San Domenico and the run was disappointing, but with excuses. He copped a nasty bump at the start, was wide throughout…I think be forgiving. I suspect here, you’ll see J Mac be aggressive, take the front and prove hard to get past.
11 In Secret (Bet Now: $4.80) is a high quality filly for James Cummings that I am confident can bounce back into the winners list. I thought J Mac gave her a sore back fresh in the Silver Shadow. Had the back of the eventual winner, Zougotcha, but he probed to get wider and was held up while the winner darted up inside the pack and finished best. Should have won and confident she can atone.
4 Promitto (Bet Now: $34.00) is a horse I do have time for. Wasn’t suited in the San Domenico first up but he was good late without threatening behind Sweet Ride. He does look a horse with good scope and fitter, I think he’s in with a shout against these at a likely decent price.
Race 8. (15:55) Theo Marks Stakes 1300m
Siding with 4 Mr Mozart (Bet Now: $3.60). He can well and truly put his hand up for the Epsom with a strong showing here. He ended last prep on a high, taking out three Stakes races on the bounce, with beautiful placement from Team Hawkes. The recent trial win was sharp, he maps ideally…he’s the one for me.
10 Jamaea (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Team Price trained mare that does tend to save her best for Randwick but is quite capable at Rosehill. She resumed three weeks ago in the Toy Show and worked to the line strongly behind dominant winner Zapateo. Has class/quality and that carries her a long way.
12 Prime Candidate (Bet Now: $11.00) comes right into the mix if the pattern is up/in. He looked the winner of the Show County at Randwick last time but was nabbed late by Showmanship. The wet track is a slight query, but he maps ideally and once he gets control, he’s a hard horse to get past.
Race 9. (16:35) Sheraco Stakes 1200m
6 Espiona (Bet Now: $3.10) is a high quality mare for Chris Waller that resumes. This filly had a somewhat disappointing Autumn, but it ended on a high, spanking them at Randwick over 1400m. Given a good break and with a strong trial under the belt, I think she’s here to rock and roll.
10 Shades Of Rose (Bet Now: $2.80) deserves a crack at Stakes grade. She’s flying for Bjorn Baker and does bring here hard race fitness as well as such an attractable racing style. Dominant win at this track/distance last time, sitting on speed before being clicked up by J Mac and gave nothing else a look in. Really good test here, but confident she measures up.
9 It’s Me… (Bet Now: $13.00) is she back? Jury was out on her, but she produced an electric finish to win fresh at Eagle Farm two weeks back, clocking some very quick late splits to get the win. On track for The Kosciuszko? Perhaps, but this race will be a proper guide as to where she sits.
Race 10. (17:15) Rosehill Bowling Club (Bm78) 1500m
15 Gracilistyla (Bet Now: $5.50) isn’t far off a win. He ran in the Waterford race mentioned above where they rode with intent from the gate, landing in the first few, and he battled on pretty well. I reckon if he gets the back of Waterford this time, something to chase, he’ll be more effective.
16 Waterford (Bet Now: $2.25) looks a very progressive stayer for Chris Waller. Electric first up win over 1500m here two weeks ago, rocketing late from the back to round them up and score an impressive win. Visually and on the clock, he was very good. The knock being, what did he beat? Nothing IMO, but he’s certainly a horse with a stack of upside.
6 Canasta (Bet Now: $8.00) will land on the bunny and give a sight. He was tailed off last in the Waterford race mentioned above where he didn’t pull up 100% post race. Trialled since and looked to move well there to my eye. Off the run two back behind Kalino, he’s in the mix.
