Race 1. (15:28) Tabtouch-Wspeed Platinum-Rs0ly 1400m
11 Sweet Tea (Bet Now: $6.00) has returned in really good order for Cliff Green and happy to be in her corner here. She has placed in both runs this time in, the latest coming three weeks ago at this track/distance when working home quite well late in the piece when third to Big Screen, who is a pretty solid horse. Drops a fair way in grade/depth here IMO and should get run of the race from the draw.
16 Western Rhythm (Bet Now: $15.00) brings Kalgoorlie form, which doesn’t often travel away from there, but this mare has proven herself in town and she gets Pike. Ran over this trip at Kalgoorlie last time and was good late without threatening. Pike on, I think she commands respect.
Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 7 Success Play (Bet Now: $7.00). Just did a bit of work from the wide gate when resuming two weeks back over 1200m here and that hard run just told late when fifth to Oly’s Choice. Like him up to 1400m and maps to get a much better run in transit.
Race 2. (16:08) Amelia Park (Bm66+) 1600m
See no reason to jump off 5 Stellar Vista (Bet Now: $3.80). She is absolutely flying for Simon Miller. 3/3 this time in, the latest coming last Saturday over 1400m here. She was there to be beaten but she really picked up between runners and surged to get the bob and win. Off that, 1600m should be fine, and this is a winnable race.
11 Find Your Man (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Mitchell Pateman trained gelding that should take beating here. He ran over 1400m here on Cup Day where he sat back in the run before peeling widest and gee he let down with a brilliant finale to spank them by a space, eased down late. Has run well at the mile previously so keen to see how he goes.
6 Strike Now (Bet Now: $6.00) is bursting to win one but finds it hard to greet the judge first. He does bring some pretty strong form lines though, running a narrow second to Mystery Island two back before going to this track/distance again where he got back and was solid late without threatening behind Saintorio. If he’s within range on the turn, he can win.
Race 3. (16:48) Furphy (Rs1mw) 1200m
1 Oly’s Choice (Bet Now: $3.80) is a promising animal for Brock Lewthwaite that should take beating here. Was wide throughout when resuming here two weeks ago but when it came to class/quality, he had a fair bit on them and was impressive. Heading in the right direction and can’t see a reason to jump off.
5 Queen Of Soul (Bet Now: $26.00) is getting towards D-Day. Simon Miller trained mare that has failed to beat a runner home in two runs this time in, so the jury is out on how well she is going, but those races she contested were much stronger than what she faces here, so if she can’t fire here, then she’s in trouble, because her best clearly sees her measure up.
6 Vogue’s Choice (Bet Now: $13.00) comers here with fresh legs for Hayden Ballantyne, having not raced since September 17 at Belmont when attempting to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Henchard. She tends to race well on the fresh side and back to 1200m is a big tick.
Race 4. (17:28) Crown Perth (Bm78+) 1200m
2 It’sarayday (Bet Now: $3.00) is getting towards D-Day for Simon Miller. That said, this is the easiest race he has contested all prep. He has bumped into Miss Conteki his past two, and that mare looks #1 seed for the Winterbottom, so that form clearly has to read well for this. If he brings his best, he’ll give it a shake.
4 Iseered Iseered (Bet Now: $20.00) drops a fair way in grade/depth so this will be interesting to see if this guy can lay claims for the Winterbottom. He resumed a fortnight back in the Prince Of Wales when on speed and was pretty plain late behind Miss Conteki. His form the last 12 months has tapered right off, but he has the runs on the board to give this a shake.
5 Kenyluck (Bet Now: $10.00) is one for exotics. He resumed in the Featherweight race mentioned above when on speed and he tried his guts out but condition just gave way late behind the Dan Morton trained gelding. Better for the run, he should be stronger late and is a knockout hope.
Race 5. (18:08) Luckygray Stakes 1800m
5 Buster Bash (Bet Now: $3.50) has the right racing pattern and fitness edge to prove hard to beat here. Four weeks between runs since an all the way win at this track/distance where he was given a 12/10 front running steer and the ride won the race. Gets Harvey now to steer, should land on speed and prove tough to get past.
2 Stafford’s Lad (Bet Now: $5.50) is one of several engaged here that have eyes on the Perth Cup but has residual fitness and is a line finder. Hasn’t raced since the Kalgoorlie Cup when knuckling down strongly late with the big weight to win impressively in a race that did have some level of depth to it. Chris Parnham rides the horse very well and he is back aboard.
1 True Attraction (Bet Now: $21.00) looks to be ticking along nicely towards the Perth Cup. He ran in the Northam Cup over the mile last time where he got back to near last in the run and was very good late in the piece behind Marocchino. Might want one more, but I think he’s right on track.
Race 6. (18:50) WA Champion Fillies Stakes 1600m
1 Laced Up Heels (Bet Now: $2.60) is the one. She won the Burgess Queen and yes, she had the weight pull on Amelia’s Jewel, but full credit to her given she was 1000m to 1400m, hardly an ideal set up, so you’d think she has room for improvement and has a better grounding now.
9 Bonjoy (Bet Now: $26.00) rises a fair way in grade/depth but she is a filly on the up. She ran in a 1400m maiden here last Thursday where she came with a well timed run from off the speed to win quite impressively. Gets better with each run and I don’t see 1600m being an issue.
4 Miss Drakova (Bet Now: $10.00) is one for multiples. Got the maiden kill out of the way first up before going to the Burgess Queen where she had the suck run behind the speed and battled on pretty well to finish third to Laced Up Heels. I doubt she turns the tables, but runs well regardless.
Race 7. (19:25) Colonel Reeves Stakes 1100m
I think you can’t go past 10 Miss Conteki (Bet Now: $4.20), who can stamp herself as Winterbottom favourite with a win here. 2/2 this time in, the latest win coming in the Prince Of Wales two weeks ago when producing that customary brilliant change up speed to win another Stakes race. Tricky draw again, but she has shown already this prep she can have a tricky gate and still come out on top.
Great to see 1 Elite Street (Bet Now: $3.20) back at the races. Arguably wins the Winterbottom last year if he didn’t pull up badly lame post race. Had a two run prep in the latter part of the Autumn, winning both races in good style. Has been set for the Winterbottom and is the class runner.
4 Indian Pacific (Bet Now: $21.00) will put himself on speed and give his all. He tried that two weeks back in the Prince Of Wales and fought on really gamely when third to Miss Conteki. I doubt he turns the tables, but he has the right racing pattern to give himself every possible chance.
Race 8. (20:03) Placid Ark Stakes 1200m
I’m a believer in 10 My Bella Mae (Bet Now: $4.20) and I think she can make it 3/3 to start her career. Her opening two career starts/wins have each been dynamic, the latest coming last Saturday when making an absolute mess of them with her change up speed once again coming to the fore. Good test here against some likely types, but she could well be the best of them.
1200m is a slight query with 11 Wild Belle (Bet Now: $11.00) but she has brilliant early toe and can produce it for a sustained period. Spabked them fresh in a Northam maiden before a dominant win here on Cup Day where she was heavily backed and justified the support. Well and truly cooking with gas if she can stretch the brilliance to 1200m.
5 Sunny Honey (Bet Now: $101.00) will be strong late if they overdo it in front. Resumed at this track/distance just over two weeks ago and I thought he worked to the line with purpose late in the piece behind Prawns Eleven. Staying at 1200m I find interesting, but produced good late splits first up and will launch at the end.
Race 9. (20:39) R.J. Peters Stakes 1500m
I think 10 Devoted (Bet Now: $1.95) has the engine under the hood to take care of these, especially with W Pike aboard. Ran two weeks ago in the Asian Beau where he got a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off when close up behind Treasured Star. Hard fit now, up to 1500m, he’ll take beating.
12 Searchin Rocs (Bet Now: $7.50) deserves another look. Forget this mare went around fresh in the Asian Beau. Drew terribly, was back and wide for the trip…just a mess, so forget she went around. Sharp trial win leading in and she has runs on the board to run a much improved race.
4 Platoon (Bet Now: $31.00), you’d think, has eyes on the Northerly and not the Railway. As he is getting older, I do think he’s finding them a bit sharp over the shorter trips. He was okay late in the Asian Beau and will appreciate the extra 100m. Doubt he wins, but could pinch a first four spot at a price.
