A bumper ten race card has been set down for Ascot this Saturday for Miss Andretti Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eleven for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (15:43) MAGIC MILLIONS PLATE 1200m
2 El Patron (Bet Now: $3.90) looks a talented colt and I think he can make a winning debut. Simon Miller trains and comes here off the back of two trials, winning the first one before a narrow second last week at Belmont. Blinkers first time for start one tells me there is intent, and that’s usually a good recipe for this camp.
9 Lucky Sue (Bet Now: $3.70) is knocking on the door to breakthrough for a win. Has finished runner up in both career outings, the latest coming last Saturday where you could make a case to say she wins with clear air instead of a close up second. Only has to hold her form to be around the mark again.
10 Ciao Luna (Bet Now: $11.00) gets the Blinkers on first time and that could spark improvement from her. Ran last Saturday in the race mentioned above when wide no cover on speed and tiring late. Draws better this time around…not sure she wins, but can fill a first four spot.
Race 2. (16:23) AMELIA PARK PLATE 1200m
4 Trix Of The Trade (Bet Now: $4.80) is the different form and it might well be the better form. Resumes for Colin Webster, having not raced since the Winter when ending his four run prep on a high with a strong win at Belmont. Liked the way he has trialled leading in and does boast a win over He’s A Sizzler.
2 Beads (Bet Now: $2.90) is a little query at 1200m but gets a soft gate and has improvement to come I feel. Ran a narrow second to Bopping Blue a fortnight back but was three weeks between runs, so I think with that run under the belt, from a good gate, 1200m should be okay and is a key chance.
7 Vogue’s Choice (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Hayden Ballantyne trained filly that resumes. Hasn’t raced since October 3 when a narrow but strong winner of a maiden at Northam, a race which has produced three winners. Looked impressive in beating the older horses in a Lark Hill trial, so keen to see how she goes.
Race 3. (17:05) TABTOUCH WSPEED PLATINUM-RS0MW 1200m
1 Express Time (Bet Now: $3.70) has a fab second up record and off a good return, I am leaning her way. Resumed over 1100m here two weeks ago where she tried her guts out from off the speed, just failing to pick up Scandolo in a tight go. Fab second up record, in well after the claim and with a good gate, she’ll do me.
6 Keep Your Feet (Bet Now: $6.00) is a son of Bradbury’s Luck that resumes for Simon Miller. Hasn’t raced since July 28 when back and making up okay ground late in the piece behind Blazing Away. Just one soft 1000m trial to get ready but generally sprints well fresh and finds a winnable race.
7 Zac Luvs To Fly (Bet Now: $18.00) hasn’t been too far away in two runs this time in. Resumed with an eye catching third over 1100m here before going to Belmont when near the speed and battled on well behind a winner from last Saturday, Burnya To Survive. That reads well for this I feel.
Race 4. (17:50) BELHUS RACING STABLES (RS1MW) 1000m
I am hoping it’s handle bars down from the start with 1 Vane Tempest (Bet Now: $3.90). This mare is a tick over two weeks between runs since racing down the straight at Pinjarra when near the front and looked home but was nabbed late by Material Witness. In okay after the claim, hoping for an aggressive ride, lead and produce sustained speed.
4 Pink Carats (Bet Now: $3.50) is a key chance for Simon Miller. Ridden upside down fresh here I feel before going to Belmont when ridden with a sit and found the line much better when third. He’ll sit of what should be a genuine tempo and be strong at the end now he’s third up.
5 Tycoon Legend (Bet Now: $21.00) is getting on in years but looks to be maintaining a healthy zest for racing. Resumed over 1000m at Belmont where he got a fair way back in the run and while he was never likely, his finale was more than sound I thought behind Astrape. Not sure he wins here, but one for multiples.
Race 5. (18:30) ASCEND SALES TROPHIES (BM72+) 1400m
Blinkers off first time might be the last resort for 3 Resortman (Bet Now: $3.70). He continues to be hard in the market in races despite the fact he hasn’t won in nearly a year. Sat on speed here two weeks ago and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Chantorque. His best sees him win. Hopefully we can see it.
9 Sentimental Queen (Bet Now: $6.50) is a talented mare for Hayden Ballantyne that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since July 24 when a narrow third over the mile at Belmont behind Vital Flirt. Just one soft trial to get ready but is a mare who can fire fresh, so watch the market.
4 Picture Perfect (Bet Now: $10.00) is one for exotics. Hayden Ballantyne trains this stayer, who is better suited at 2000m, but has a bit of quality on his side. Ended last prep on a high when winning over 2200m at Belmont. Two trials to get ready for his return and Pike steers. Knockout hope.
Race 6. (19:05) STRIKER INDOOR SPORTS (RS1MW) 1500m
3 Crescent City (Bet Now: $14.00) is worth an each way speck for Team Williams with CJP to steer. Forget his run here two weeks ago when back and wide, never really a factor behind Cheval De Vega. Gets a significant jockey upgrade and with luck from a tricky gate, I think he only runs well.
6 Fashion Queen (Bet Now: $2.15) is bursting to win another race for Adam Durrant. Ran over the mile at Belmont last time out where she got a mile out of her ground but charged late from near last to run a narrow second to Cable Guy. If she can sit closer in the run, she’ll take beating.
12 Peppijack (Bet Now: $20.00) isn’t a horse I think can win, but could sneak a first four spot at a big price. Sat on speed at Pinjarra last time out and battled on okay albeit well held late behind The Great One. Blinkers come off, so hopefully that can spark some sort of improvement from him because his best can see him sneak into the top four.
Race 7. (19:45) SCHWEPPES (RS1MW) 1500m
An end of prep run has to be on the horizon for 2 Cheval De Vega (Bet Now: $2.70) but given how well he is racing at the moment, it’s hard to get away from him. Massive win from him over 1400m here two weeks ago given all the work he did on speed, but he fought on superbly, fended them off and was too good. If that hasn’t busted him, he’ll take beating.
3 Downforce (Bet Now: $12.00) hasn’t won in just under a year but is knocking on the door to win. He seemingly had the right run in transit in the race mentioned above but couldn’t reel in Cheval De Vega, finishing third. He maps to get a sweet trip again. Just finding it hard to win, but is honest.
7 Tri For Us (Bet Now: $8.00) is getting fitter and I do think a rise in trip is a tick for her. Ran in the race mentioned above and she tried hard but the race shape wasn’t too her liking. Tempo won’t be as hot this time around and she’s a mare with upside to come, so she’s in with a shout.
Race 8. (20:20) HEINEKEN 3 (BM72+) 1800m
Jason Whiting rides 7 Chili Is Hot (Bet Now: $3.10) better than anyone else and I think with him back on the mare, I’ll give her another chance. Nothing against Jade McNaught, she rode the mare well in the La Trice when fourth to Beret, but it’s clear that Whiting gets on with her and he is back on.
Getting to a more suitable trip and fitter, I think 5 Big Bada Boom (Bet Now: $7.00) can improve out of sight. Ran over 1400m here four weeks ago where he just found them a bit sharp but was good in defeat I thought behind Beat The Bro. Much better suited here and can bounce back hard.
9 Harry Thomas (Bet Now: $21.00) hasn’t really fired a shot in recent times but similar to Chili Is Hot, he only seems to fire for one rider, Joe Azzopardi, and he is back on the gelding for this. Only 1.9L off Bogart last time, so he’s not far off and up in trip, fitter, he’s a knockout chance.
Race 9. (20:55) MISS ANDRETTI STAKES 1100m
3 Gemma’s Son (Bet Now: $10.00) runs for Paul Harvey, he is back on for this and the horse finally gets some luck with barriers. Has been forced to sit wide no cover in both runs back from a break and has felt the pinch late in both outings. Has gate one to get a beaut run in transit and for mine, he’s a great each way bet.
6 Miss Conteki (Bet Now: $3.10) is an absolute beauty for Simon Miller who loves short course racing. Resumed in the Summer Scorcher where she looked no chance on the turn but she wound up with an unbelievable finale to wear them down and score a remarkable win. She’ll get back to near last and launch late.
4 Hot Zed (Bet Now: $17.00) is better suited over a bit further, but gee he is a genuine animal. Lou Luciani trained gelding that has been kept on ice, having not raced since November 11 when a strong winner over 1400m here. Good test for him here, but will be strong late and does no work from the draw.
Race 10. (21:25) CROWN SPORTS BAR (BM66+) 1200m
4 Reign Of Fire (Bet Now: $5.00) for me in the get out. Colin Webster trains this gelding and he’s been quite good in two runs back from a break, finishing third in both runs, which have come at this track/distance, the latest being two weeks ago. He’ll drift back from the wide gate but be strong at the end.
1200m is a genuine query with 3 Brooklyn Pier (Bet Now: $6.00) but he’s an honest animal for Neville Parnham that shouldn’t be too far away. Ran over 1000m here two weeks ago where he had a suck run behind the good speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite finish it off when third. If he gets the economical run, 1200m, I think, will be okay.
8 Solid Azza… (Bet Now: $6.00) is she back on track? Produced great late splits fresh in the Epona Classic before knuckling down strongly late to win at Belmont last time out at the midweeks. She is flying this time in and despite this carrying more depth, I think she has to be respected.
