A bumper nine race card has been set down for Murray Bridge on Friday where it is Murray Bridge Cup Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:40) Bridge Carpet Court Plate 900m
I think Travis Doudle wins the race. Just a matter of which one. I’m siding with the second elect in the market, 1 Prince Tikea (Bet Now: $4.20). He has had two jumpouts to get ready and has looked pretty good to the eye both times, winning the second jumpout. Market will tell you which one the stable fancies. I think this guy will be strong at the end.
3 Freytamfal (Bet Now: $2.00) is the stablemate of Prince Tikea who has had the official trial, which came at Morphettville and she looked sharp in winning the three horse trial. Gets the low weight after the claim for Ben Price, should be leading them up and might be too nippy.
5 She’s Marilyn (Bet Now: $4.60) is a fascinating runner. I can’t find a jumpout for her, so a bit of guessing involved, but the stable every year can produce a nice juvenile, especially at this track. Can understand why she has been kept safe in betting so watch the market late and see if it still fancies her.
Race 2. (13:15) Bgc Indus. Cleaning Supp. Mdn 900m
7 Rose Tycoon (Bet Now: $3.50) for me. Team McEvoy filly that is on debut and this stable has a very good record at this track. These 900m scampers are fraught with danger, but she’s in a leading camp, has trialled well leading in and the big tick for her is that she has gate one, so she won’t be far away.
16 Arran Bay (Bet Now: $2.50) is a big market watch. Son of All Too Hard for Phillip Stokes that resumes and returns to racing as a gelding. His debut came in April at Morphettville when wide throughout and battled on behind Generation. Couple of strong trials to get ready. Just needs luck from the tricky draw.
1 Belvidere Prince (Bet Now: $12.00) gets Blinkers first time and I think that could spark him into action. He attempted to lead throughout at Naracoorte last time out and stuck on well when a close up third to Justakidd. He looks a speed horse, so 900m I like and will give a stack of cheek.
Race 3. (13:50) New Beginning At Newbridge Mdn 1800m
To me, this race is either favourite wins, or a complete blowout. I’m going to speck the latter option via 12 Spring Rebel (Bet Now: $81.00). Sam Burford trained mare that debuted at Balaklava over 1200m a few weeks ago. Got back in the run and was never really a factor. Up i trip is ideal, Blinkers first time, does no work from the draw. $51+ for her, I can speck her small at an each way price.
14 Cassowary (Bet Now: $2.15) does bring the strong form lines leading into this, so with that in mind, has to be respected, but from a price perspective, near even money I can’t dive into. Wide no cover in the Hill Smith last Saturday but that said, they didn’t go too hard in front and I thought she was entitled to finish off better. She can win, but $3+ I’d want, not even money.
10 Maurice Road (Bet Now: $11.00) should be suited back onto a bigger track. Not sure Oakbank was to his liking last time out and he really struggled late when down the track behind Plympton. Back onto a track like this, off previous form, it is good enough to be around the mark here.
Race 4. (14:25) Beyond Ink Mdn Plate 1400m
6 Bamyam Buddha (Bet Now: $2.40) looks the one to beat. Rich Enuff colt for Grant Young that resumes, having not raced since his debut back in May over 1000m when back and closing off strongly when second to Runamigo. That race has produced three winners, so the form read strong and loved his recent trial. On a tricky card, I think he’s one of the best on the card.
14 Last Zerprise (Bet Now: $11.00) is an interesting runner. Mick Huxtable trained filly that resumes, having not raced since March 17 when back off the speed and worked home pretty well late in the piece without threatening. No jumpouts, but in well after the claim and draws soft.
12 Four Winds (Bet Now: $23.00) is a Sam Burford trained daughter of Sir Prancealot that seemingly struggled big time on a testing track at Gawler last time where she was hard in the market. Think this track will be much firmer and off her previous form, she’ll be around the mark.
Race 5. (15:00) The Fmg Engineering (bm58) 2000m
5 Sky Hero (Bet Now: $3.00) has found winning form and I think he can go on with it. He spanked them over 2200m at Balaklava, sitting off the speed before peeling into clear air and drawing away late to win impressively. Only has to hold that form and he’ll be winning again I’d suggest.
6 The Red Sea (Bet Now: $7.50) is racing in good form for Grant Young and is a key chance if he gets luck from the wide gate. He ran at Penola on Sunday where he had a good battle with All Hard Wood but had to settle for second. That horse was a metro winner prior, so that reads well for this.
7 Flow Meter (Bet Now: $16.00) is a beauty. 12 years of age but is racing well. Got a fair way back last Sunday at Penola but finished off his race quite well when third to All Hard Wood. That was a strong 62 race. Back to 58 grade, while I doubt he wins, I think he is a must for exotics.
Race 6. (15:40) Cgu Insurance Hcp (58) 1200m
13 Tahnee Tradition (Bet Now: $3.80) for me. Peter Hardacre trained mare that was unwanted in betting when resuming at Morphettville last Saturday. Dragged back to near last in the run and worked home with real purpose late in the piece behind Outpost. Better for the run and back in depth, she’ll take beating.
3 We Will Remember (Bet Now: $2.90) has already been scratched from Morphettville on Saturday in preference for this. He comes here in winning form after bolting up to break the maiden tag at Gawler last time, defying a late betting drift and making a mess of them. Hopefully he can go on with it now.
4 Big Acheeva (Bet Now: $14.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Charlotte Littlefield but is now with David Jolly. Overall, his Victorian form isn’t too bad for a race like this and I thought his trial last Friday was a good piece of work. At his best, he is definitely capable of being around the mark.
Race 7. (16:20) Sprycrete (bm64) 1400m
4 Impossible Action (Bet Now: $2.30) has found winning form and he can go on with it now. Ran over 1400m on the Parks track last time out where he had the suck run behind a good speed and really, it was a case of how far given how he was trucking in the run. The final margin was four lengths. Off that, he’ll take beating here.
1 Reynolds (Bet Now: $5.00) has class on this lot. Just depends where he is at re fitness levels, but being on his home track on Cup Day, you would assume he’s ready to go. I can’t find a recent jumpout for him but off his form last time in, it does read well. Market will tell you if he’s ready.
8 Jaamint (Bet Now: $15.00) can bounce back. This mare has been up a while and there are signs that perhaps she is looking for the paddock. Has been near the speed her past couple and has run okay, but not to the level of her form during the Winter. Has runs on the board, so she gets one more chance.
Race 8. (17:00) Murray Bridge Cup 1600m
I think the Blinkers back on will sharpen 6 Ritratto (Bet Now: $7.50) right up. Mick Huxtable trained gelding who has been a bit disappointing his past couple, including last start on the Parks track when seemingly getting every chance. Blinkers back on, jockey upgrade and up to the mile, he’ll only run well.
If you knew 1 Ironclad (Bet Now: $6.00) was 100% at his best, he’d be $1.50. It’s just hard to know where he is at after two runs this prep, both times sitting wide no cover. Tick over trial was a good piece of work and this was the target race they purchased him for, but after a stellar Autumn, he was touted as a Toorak horse. Market will be fascinating.
9 Classy Joe (Bet Now: $26.00) is a real tough nut who will have no issue at a strong mile. Game third in the Balaklava Cup two back before a close up fourth in town behind the in form Sign Of Ussuri. That form does read well, he’s hard fit, in form. Just needs luck from a tricky gate.
Race 9. (17:30) Rural City Of M'bridge (bm62) 1000m
12 Valuable Witness (Bet Now: $2.40) is a nice horse for David Jolly. Gee it was an ugly watch if you were on his back first up two weeks ago on the Parks track. I think with clear air, he wins, but Crowther took the wrong options and it was not pretty. Confirmed though that he has returned well and can take this out.
The Hardacre runners are firing fresh, so a big market watch for 2 Harpuna (Bet Now: $4.40). This guy has only won the one race, but he has the talent to beat these if he’s ready to go. No recent jumpout for him from what I can see, but have to respect the fact the stable in recent weeks are firing with their runners first up.
9 Aston Rapova (Bet Now: $10.00) is racing really well this time in for the Francis/Kent camp and has to be respected here. Impressive winner on the Parks track two back before proving that was no fluke when a narrow second to All In War a few weeks back on the course proper. He’s racing well and back to 1000m is a big tick.
