15/10/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Eurythmic Stakes day

The Ascot Carnival continues on Saturday, with a couple of feature races set down to shape up the Summer Carnival. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

3 All The King’s Men (Bet Now: $2.30) has the class factor and I’ll bank on that getting him home. Resumed three weeks ago at Belmont where he took on the older horses and made a statement with an electric win. That track towards the end of the season was a horses for courses track and he lapped it up. If he can translate that to Ascot and be just as dynamic, stamp him as #1 seed for the WA Guineas.

6 Central Force (Bet Now: $10.00) rises a fair bit in grade/depth but he is a promising animal for Michael Grantham. The maiden win came last start at Geraldton where he was always in control under Parnham and was much too good, beating Classic Encounter, who bolted up last week, so the form has been ticked off. Just needs luck from the gate.

5 Upper Limits (Bet Now: $7.00) will jump on the bunny and run a cheeky race at odds. Sustained speed came to the fore when he resumed with a maiden win at Northam over 1100m. On face value, that form is rank for a race like this, but he ran time and did it from the front, so he commands some level of respect.

2 Ain’t No Other Man (Bet Now: $2.60) is bursting to win another race and I think he gets a great chance here. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m at Belmont where he tried his guts out but had to settle for a narrow second to Enticing. He has a good record at Ascot, he’s come back well…just needs to put a win on the board, and I think he can here.

9 Requisition (Bet Now: $9.50) is on the seven day back up for Brett Pope after racing last Saturday at this track/distance. He attempted to lead throughout and tried his guts out when third to Real Grace. I reckon they were keen to run in the 1000m race but drew the carpark so runs here instead. Last bit will test but he’ll give a sight.

12 Verdandi (Bet Now: $71.00) is a very interesting runner. Ryan Hill has done a fab job recently with cast offs and he has this mare resuming. On form, she will struggle, and the trial was nothing to jump up and down about, but I do have to respect the stable and how they are going.

Buttering up with 1 Buster Bash (Bet Now: $3.10). He was a month between runs when racing last Saturday over 1400m here where he got control in front and tried hard, but just lacked the change up speed to put them away when third to Em Tee Aye. Like him up to 1800m and with the claim, he gets in very well. Hard to beat.

3 Native Chimes (Bet Now: $7.00) is flying for Darryn Pateman. Done her best racing on the dirt recently, bolting up in the Carnarvon Cup. She then had a mini break and went to the Kalgoorlie Cup when on speed and fought on so bravely when third to Stafford’s Lad. Back to 1800m no issue, lands on speed and is a key threat.

2 Sluice Box (Bet Now: $11.00) is yet to win in 11 runs at Ascot but he hasn’t been too bad when you break down the runs. He also comes through the Kalgoorlie Cup where he got back to near last in the run and didn’t threaten behind Stafford’s Lad. Not sure he wins, but a first four contender.

5 Lexington City (Bet Now: $3.00) is a promising four year old for Simon Miller that resumes. He hasn’t raced since May 7 at this track/distance when getting an absolute picnic in front and he just darted up for the straight for a soft win. Has had a good trial to get ready for his return. Tricky draw, but slides forward and should prove hard to beat.

1 Our Wind Spirit (Bet Now: $7.00) is on the seven day back up after racing at this track/distance last Saturday where he contested a strong 72+ and worked home well late, just getting badly held up at the wrong time behind River Beau. Back to a 1MW race, he clearly appeals here.

9 Klondike Kenny (Bet Now: $71.00) has done most of his recent racing on the dirt but we have seen recently that the dirt form can be translate to the turf. He is over a month between runs since racing over 1000m at Canarvon when off the speed and tried hard, just feeling the pinch late. Soft gate to do no work, he’s one for multiples.

3 Strike Now (Bet Now: $4.50) is the bet here. He ran last Wednesday at Northam where he sat last in the small field and given the race shape, he had no chance based on the fact he ran the best last 600/400/200 of the meeting. Tempo should be more genuine here and prior form suggested a win was near.

11 Mrs America (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Michael Grantham trained mare that comes to town after resuming at the midweeks at Geraldton where she got off the speed and worked to the line pretty well without threatening when second to Roey Clam. Fitter and up to the mile, her best is good enough to be the winner.

1 Powerful (Bet Now: $5.50) is flying. Was mainly a dirt horse but he showed he’s not a one trick pony, winning on the turf at Kalgoorlie two weeks back, and it didn’t come as a surprise to some given he was specked at a big price. 1600m is the query with him but hard to knock the way he’s going.

1200m is the unknown with 12 Swear To God (Bet Now: $2.15) but he is the one with the upside/progression. Resumed at Belmont three weeks ago and tried hard, but was simply no match for the brilliatn change up speed produced by All Show, who should have won last Saturday. Tricky draw, but slides forward and for mine finds a winnable race.

11 Enticing (Bet Now: $16.00) is racing in career best form for Jim Taylor and commands respect. He’s been up a while but is racing with a solid amount of zest, running a game second to quality three year old All The King’s Men, who I think will win a Stakes race this prep. Reads very well I think for a relatively thin 66+.

6 Phoneme (Bet Now: $19.00) is a son of Choisir for Michael Lane that resumes. He hasn’t raced since April 15 over 1400m here when producing another good effort, finishing third to Elafella, beaten a lip in a blanket finish. He sprints well fresh and has had two trials to get ready. Watch the market.

4 Nerodio (Bet Now: $10.00) lacks the class of some of these, but he has fitness on his side, he has a fab 1000m record and just gets the A1 map. He hasn’t raced since August 27 at Belmont when placing in the Idyllic Prince behind Resortman. He is good when produced with fresh legs, he’ll be strong late and maps to get an ideal run.

10 Miss Conteki (Bet Now: $4.20) is the one being discussed as one of the better local prospects for the Winterbottom. Simon Miller trained mare that resumes. Her last run came in the Scenic Blast back in January when a fast finishing second to Hot Zed. Gate one, fresh at 1000m, it could be an ugly watch, but if the breaks go her way, she could explode and make a statement.

7 Mervyn (Bet Now: $81.00) saves his best for the Ascot 1000m and he’ll give a sight at a price. He is several weeks between runs since an okay effort in the Jolly Beggar behind Startrade. I think getting to on top of the ground and back to his pet track/distance, he’s in with a shout for sure.

3 Cup Night… (Bet Now: $10.00) is he back? Bernie Miller said as much leading into the Black Heart Bart and Cup Night confirmed it, rocketing late from off the speed when second to Comes A Time. Not sure the race shape was to his liking so fitter, up to 1400m in a truly run race, I think he’ll sit back and launch late.

5 Resortman (Bet Now: $4.60) looks the map horse for Michael Lane. Once he found firmer footing towards the end of the Belmont Carnival, he came into his own, winning the Idyllic Prince and then the Farnley. Freshened up to potentially have a crack at the Railway, the trial was good and he does no work from the gate.

4 True Attraction (Bet Now: $126.00) is one I could entertain for wider multiples. He’s heading towards the Perth Cup you would assume so 1400m here with fresh legs suggests this is a prepr run, but I didn’t mind the way he went in a Lark Hill trial and at his absolute best, he’s in with a shout as a first four contender.

Bob Peters is crying out for a Railway 4YO to stand up. Could 2 Devoted (Bet Now: $1.95) be the one? This guy resumes, off the back of a Belmont Guineas triumph back in the early part of the Winter, and was spelled, dodhing the 2000m+ races. Trials leading in have been strong and with the claim, inside gate, I think he’ll only run well.

Keen to see 1 Trix Of The Trade (Bet Now: $5.50) resume. They tried him out as a Derby horse last prep but the lead ups probably confirmed he wasn’t going to be suited at a staying trip and albeit he was wide no cover in the Derby, he didn’t fire. I hope they train him as a miler because IMO that is when he’s effective. Watch the market and see what it does.

3 Son Of Bacchus (Bet Now: $34.00) deserves another look. He resumed in the Hannans at Kalgoorlie when four wide for the trip and given the winner ran sub 34 for the last 600m, Son Of Bacchus had no chance. Good record at Ascot and I think can be a big improver at a likely decent price.
