Ten races have been set down for Caulfield on Saturday, headlined by the All Star Mile (1600m). Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit

7 Carini (Bet Now: $1.75) is a key threat. Danny O’Brien trained galoper that was the subject of a very strong market push in the Blamey a fortnight back. They rode him with intent, landing on speed after doing work out wide, and that early burn just told late in the piece behind Atishu, finishing fifth. Hard fit now and up to a more ideal trip, he’ll take beating.

5 Mankayan (Bet Now: $4.80) is knocking on the door. He ran second to Dunkel here three weeks ago, sitting just off the speed and kept finding the line, just missing out on the win when a narrow second. No horse of that quality here and with M Zahra aboard, hard fit, he appeals.

3 Muramasa (Bet Now: $7.50) is an improver at odds for Busuttin/Young. He resumed two weeks back in the Blamey at Flemington where he got a fair way out of his ground and although he did make up headway, he was never threatening behind Atishu. Much better set up here and although he may want another and a rise in trip, he has upside and will be strong late.

2 Ambassadorial (Bet Now: $4.20) will jump on the bunny and take running down. Plain return but outclassed in the CS Hayes fresh before going to Pakenham where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but was nabbed on the peg by Marble Arch. Looks the leader and third up from a spell, he should just about be at peak fitness.

7 Socks Nation (Bet Now: $3.50) is a talented filly for Ciaron Maher that comes here three weeks between runs since running over 1800m here in the Autumn Classic where she found the 1800m a bridge too far but she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Immediacy. Back to this level and back to this trip, she appeals.

3 Magnolia Lodge (Bet Now: $12.00) will love the rise to the mile. This guy ran over 1400m at Pakenham last time out where he got back to near last in the run in a race suited to those on speed so I thought he did an excellent job to get as close as he did behind Saint Lazare. He’s the one with different form and good upside, so I am not penning him.

9 White Bear (Bet Now: $2.05) looks a progressive animal for Michael Moroney and confident he can measure up. Market took somewhat of a set against him when resuming at Benalla but the market got it wrong because he made an absolute mess of them, sitting on speed before being clicked up and away he went for a dominant win. Improvement off that, he’s going to take beating.

5 Furious (Bet Now: $6.00) is a Team Hawkes trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since November 1 when a strong winner over 1400m on the Kenso at Randwick, giving them a start and a beating in a sharp effort. Jumpout work has been encouraging from what I have seen and should be strong at the end. Leading contender.

4 Crackhorn (Bet Now: $27.00) is in with a shout. Archie Alexander trained gelding that is resuming. His last run came at The Valley on Dec 15 when close up in defeat and was far from disgraced behind Joltin Joe. He is a horse who can sprint well on the fresh side and his recent Terang trial win was sharp.

3 Lempicka (Bet Now: $5.00) is much better suited at this level. This mare was thrown in the deep end first up in the Oakleigh Plate three weeks back and while she only beat one runner home, she was only beaten 3.9L and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Queman. Back to this grade and better for the run under the belt, she’s dangerous.

1 Jigsaw (Bet Now: $5.50) is a quality sprinter for Cindy Alderson that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Dec 2 over 1100m here when on speed and tiring late to finish down the track behind Ghaanati. He is a horse who does race very well on the fresh side and for mine, rates as one of the key chances, but watch the market.

4 Viviane (Bet Now: $3.90) is an improver for Matty Ellerton. This mare resumed in the Rubiton several weeks back. She was behind the speed throughout and chasing, but she couldn’t run through the pain barrier and was a bit on the plain side in the straight behind Kallos. She has runs on the board and credits in the bank to be given another look.

1 Nugget (Bet Now: $3.00) should take beating here for Ciaron Maher. He was somewhat thrown in the deep end first up in the Futurity and while he was safely held, I didn’t think he was that disgraced in defeat behind Mr Brightside. He drops miles in grade/depth, suited up to the mile…hard to beat.

2 Keats (Bet Now: $5.00) looks the leader and from there, he’s dangerous. He broke a run of outs when winning the Hellova Street at Launceston, leading throughout and showing good ticker late to fend them off. He leads, should get decent control and Williams sticks. Likeable.

6 Arran Bay (Bet Now: $3.50) is a beauty for Phillip Stokes and commands respect. Both runs back from a spell have come over 1400m at Flemington, the latest being two weeks ago when landing in a plum spot under Stackhouse and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found plenty under pressure to win and was strong. 1600m should be fine and rates highly.

2 Bold Bastille (Bet Now: $1.50) is a sharp filly that pulled up lame when resuming in the Blue Diamond Prelude. She was given a mini break and went to Flemington where she led throughout and was dominant from the front, giving nothing else a look in. if she can stretch that brilliance to 1100m, I think she’ll take beating against these.

7 Yes Lulu (Bet Now: $9.50) has been the subject of solid early support and easy to see why after her debut back on Feb 21 at Sandown, getting back off the speed but found the line with real purpose late when second to Little Stirrer. Like her up to 1100m, J Kah on and if within range, she’ll be strong at the end.

1 Sky Cap (Bet Now: $9.50) is a knockout hope. He ran over 1200m at The Valley last time where he wasn’t 100% happy around the tight track and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite get there when second to Sassy Jenni. Hard fit, back to 1100m, dangerous at odds if he can overcome the gate.

11 Peace Treaty (Bet Now: $1.95) should take beating for Team Freedman. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Summer when winning two on the bounce and each time she was impressive. Been given a break and her recent jumpout at Balnarring when winning, gee it looked sharp. Reckon she is Stakes class and can confirm that with a first up win here.

4 Waltz On By (Bet Now: $6.00) looks ready to win for Moody/Coleman. This girl ran down the straight at Flemington two weeks ago where she was a bit flat footed when the sprint went on but she picked up and was actually pretty good late in the piece when second to Sans Doute. Hard fit now and up to 1200m, she’s very likeable against these.

2 My Bella Mae (Bet Now: $6.00) creates interest. WA mare that is five weeks between runs since racing at Bunbury in a Listed race when just off the speed and she tried hard but had to settle for a second to Real Danger. The end of 1200m is the query with her but she maps perfect to do no work to offset that.

12 Pride Of Jenni (Bet Now: $4.00) should be much closer to Mr Brightside in betting I feel. Her last six months has been out of this world, with two Group l wins and a first up effort in the CF Orr which was unbelievable, running hard in front and was only nabbed late by Mr Brightside. Kept on ice, has jumped out well leading in, lands on speed and takes running down.

1 Mr Brightside (Bet Now: $2.00) is a gun horse, a great horse…but do I want to dive into the shorts? No. Just got there in the CF Orr before making a mess of them with a healthy amount of arrogance in the Futurity. He’ll love the step up to the mile…the query will be what sort of start that he’ll concede to Pride Of Jenni, because she’ll be leading, rolling, and won’t be stopping. He can win, clearly, but at the shorts, he’s not a betting proposition.

5 Dom To Shoot (Bet Now: $35.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. This guy resumed in the Futurity where he got back off the speed and took a while to wind into his work but he wasn’t too bad in the run to the line behind Mr Brightside. Highly doubt he turns the tables but he can run top four without surprising.

1 Sir Atlas (Bet Now: $2.90) is a Lindsey Smith trained galloper that should take beating here. He has been excellent in two runs back, catching the eye without threatening fresh at Ballarat before going to Terang where he gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish best in an impressive display. Room for improvement and off a win, he rates highly.

9 Saint Lazare (Bet Now: $21.00) has come back in really good order for Kennewell/Yeomans and rates highly. He comes here via a Heat at Pakenham where he got into a good spot on speed from the wide gate and he was strong late in winning, doing it comfortably on the line. The rise to 1600m is okay and off a win, commands respect.

12 Party At Artie (Bet Now: $27.00) is a knockout hope. He comes through the Saint Lazare race from two weeks back at Pakenham. He got back off the speed and he kept finding the line, closing off well when second. He has won at the mile previously and rising to that trip here, I think he’s in with a shout.

9 Rey Magnerio (Bet Now: $3.40) is a beauty for Griffiths/De Kock that commands respect. This guy comes through the Oakleigh Plate where he was back in the run and while he was safely held, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Queman. Back to this level, in a truly run 1200m, he’s hard to beat provided there is petrol left in the tank.

1 Indian Pacific (Bet Now: $8.50) has been a grand campaigner for a number of years but is seemingly enjoying life with Nick Ryan. I loved the way he toughed it out to win the Abell at The Valley last time, leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off. He’ll give a sight on speed.

4 Crosshaven (Bet Now: $15.00) is several weeks between runs for Team Hayes since contesting the Elms where he got shuffled back from the inside gate and in a slowly run race, he just couldn’t get involved, finishing down the track behind Makram. Prior efforts were more than sound so I am not dismissing him yet.
