17/7/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

Brisbane metro racing this Saturday returns to Eagle Farm for a nine event meeting. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out a metre for the entire circuit.

Bit to play out whether he runs here or not, but on top is 4 Allusionist (Bet Now: $3.80) for the Freedman camp. I just think he brings stronger form lines than this lot. The jury is out on some of these, and even though he is a maiden, he has been good in both career outings behind some likely types. Was 1200m back to 1100m last time, so back up to 1200m, he’ll do me.

3 Release The Beans (Bet Now: $2.60) deserves another chance. He was smashed in betting when resuming at this track/distance. I just think the race shape wasn’t to his liking. It was a real sit/sprint and he couldn’t go with them late when third. He’ll improve for that run and IMO gets a jockey upgrade.

7 Rockin’ Artie (Bet Now: $34.00) gets Blinkers first time and I think can be an improver. Resumed in the same race Release The Beans resumed in, which was won by Jumbo Goal. He sat back off the speed and couldn’t come on in a plain effort. Prior form was sound and Blinkers on should spark improvement.

2 Shooting For Gold (Bet Now: $1.50) looks a really good prospect for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp and confident he can continue his winning ways. Resumed three weeks ago over 1000m here where he landed in a plum spot just behind the speed and once Nothdurft pushed the button, it was race over and he showed too much. Interesting to see if he is going to be trained like a sprinter. If the answer is yes, he’ll be winning this and better races over the next six months or so.

6 Je Suis Belle (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Mark Currie trained mare that resumes. Hasn’t raced since March 13 on testing ground at the Gold Coast when placing in a similar race to this behind noted wet tracker Say Haya. Sprints well fresh and looked very sharp in a recent trial win.

5 Iced (Bet Now: $12.00) won’t know himself with only 51kg on his back and he does have a liking for Eagle Farm, so there are a couple of big ticks for him. Ran at this track/distance just over two weeks and was strong late in winning, finishing best nearer the inside. If he can handle the class rise, he’ll be dangerous.

7 Spirit House (Bet Now: $8.50) is going super for Tony Gollan. Just missed out on the win two back when second to Goldsborough. She then went to Eagle Farm and worked to the line pretty well I thought without threatening. if she is within range on the turn, she’s certainly good enough.

8 Aviemore (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Barry Lockwood trained filly that resumes. This girl dodged the Winter Carnival, which I do like given she didn’t quite measure up during the Summer. This looks her level for sure and stable can get them to fire fresh, so she’s a definite market watch.

10 Schweid As (Bet Now: $6.00) looks to be a leading chance in a race like this. Kelly Schweida trained three year old that is over two weeks between runs since racing here where he was on speed and fighting on strongly when third to a proven performer at this level, Iced. Tick over trial on Monday was a sharp piece of work, proven here and will run a bold race.

I think the best version of 6 Ef Troop (Bet Now: $2.60) will see him take this out. I reckon Tony Gollan has him back on track despite a plain resumption at Doomben. He hasn’t won in some 20 odd months, so he has probably forgotten how to win. He was made to win a recent trial here, winning by 11 lengths in fast time. I think he can win.

3 Boomsara (Bet Now: $4.40) is a Chris Munce trained gelding that comes here four weeks between runs since contesting the Eye Liner at Ipswich where he was far from disgraced in defeat I thought when close up behind Snitch. Ran well here the start prior and I do think back to 1200m is okay.

4 Matowi (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Chris Waller galloper that resumes and he can pull out a decent run fresh. Hasn’t raced since Feb 27 when down the track in the Tatts Members Cup at the Sunny Coast. He is a dry track horse, so Eagle Farm suits, has trialled well and can pull out a positive run first up.

I reckon the Gollan camp has a nice filly on their hands in the shape of 7 Lethal Warning (Bet Now: $4.00). Daughter of Lucas Cranach that debuted over 1400m here in a maiden. One thing I’ve learned over the years is the Lucas Cranach breed, they are different beasts when Blinkers are applied. This girl was no exception and amazingly, got to $40+ when they jumped. The time was solid relative to the meeting and she’s got enormous upside, with the 1800m being no issue.

6 Victoria Park (Bet Now: $4.40) is a Tony Gollan trained three year old that is heading in the right direction. Strong win from him to break the maiden tag at this track/distance. He was there to be beaten but found plenty under pressure and was strong late in winning. He can measure up here.

10 Spirit’s Charm (Bet Now: $15.00) should be suited up in trip. Impressive winner two back over the mile at the Sunny Coast. Then had five weeks off and raced last Friday over 1500m at Rockhampton where she was good late from the back behind Namazu. Fitter and up to 1800m, she appeals.

If 1 Cinquedea (Bet Now: $3.10) handles Eagle Farm, class gets him home. I’d forgive the run last Saturday. He was four weeks between runs and pretty much, it was a barrier trial won by Indispensable. Has good form beyond the mile, gets in so well after the claim and has reacted positively on the seven day back up before.

9 Pleased (Bet Now: $18.00) is racing like he wants a rise in trip and he gets that here. Good in defeat two back at Ipswich before going to the South Grafton Cup when an eye catcher from the back, finishing a close up fourth to Texas Storm. He’ll love 1800m and has run well here in the past.

8 Dashing Special (Bet Now: $41.00) is an interesting runner. Barry Baldwin trained galloper that is four weeks between runs since a down the track effort at Ipswich over the mile behind the then in form Prospectus. Given a good hit out in an Eagle Farm trial win and is suited up in trip. Whether he needs one more or not, not sure.

5 Dynamic Duo (Bet Now: $7.500) did some nice things this time last year in this part of the world and no reason why he can’t do it again. He ran at Eagle Farm last time out and closed off hard, just failing to pick up Nordicus with a gap to third. He’s racing well and is hard to beat here, with Nordicus franking the form last Saturday.

2 Dreamreacher (Bet Now: $2.80) is finding it hard to greet the judge but I think he has the right form around him to take this out. He ran in a Provincial Sprint Heat at the Sunny Coast where he ran a narrow second to L’Cosmo, and while the protest he fired in was unsuccessful, it could have easily gone his way. Bursting to win another race and gets his chance here.

Getting to 1400m I do like for 8 Lady Brahmos (Bet Now: $19.00). Ran over 1200m here last Wednesday, second up from a break. Got a fair way back in the run and was never really a winning threat, but liked the way she closed off to run third. Yet to prove herself beyond 1200m but off last run, 1400m should be okay.

1 Triple Ace (Bet Now: $1.95) on top. Kris Lees trained three year old that resumed a few weeks ago at Rosehill and stuck to the task pretty well in defeat I thought when third to Madam Legend. That form against the older horses does look quite strong for this kind of race, and stable/rider are both in form.

9 Bundyandcoke (Bet Now: $26.00) is a quality three year old that resumes. He did a super job in his first prep, winning two of seven with a further placings and established himself as a Saturday class animal. Form around him does read quite strong for this and his last run was May 15 so he has residual fitness.

8 Bellissimi Amici (Bet Now: $14.00) should appreciate the added fitness. Rob Heathcoate trained filly that resumed over 1200m at Eagle Farm a few weeks back. She was never really a winning threat. Might need one more, but that resumption was good enough to command respect here.

Big track, hard fit, this is D-Day for 16 Luna Mia (Bet Now: $6.50). Contender or pretender time. She was excellent fresh in the Helen Coughlan before going to Ipswich where I just don’t think she handled the tight track, so I’m penning that run. She’ll love the spacious surroundings this track has to offer and off her Helen Coughlan effort, she wins this.

4 Fisticuffs (Bet Now: $7.50) has the talent under the hood to give this a shake. Just a matter of where he is at. Resumed at Doomben over four weeks ago and gee he was plain I thought behind Desert Man after staying hard in the market. He got back and didn’t come on at all. Good second up record and likes racing here, so giving him another chance.

Best version of 3 Ditmas (Bet Now: $15.00) is capable. He was unwanted in betting when resuming over 1000m here but despite that, I thought he ran a credible race behind Shooting For Gold. He is a second up winner and I do think the rise to 1200m is a positive. Best is good enough.

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 1 Cinquedea

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 16 Luna Mia
