A nine program has been set down for Belmont this Saturday where it is HG Bolton Sprint Day. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.
Bolton Sprint 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Bolton Sprint
Race 1. (14:24) ALLAN GUELFI PLATE 1000m
The wide draw makes it tricky for 4 City Regal (Bet Now: $8.50) but he looks a very likely type for David Harrison. On debut and interesting he hasn’t been seen at the trials since January 25 when a sharp winner at Lark Hill. Stable finds Harvey to steer. Just want a market push.
1 He’s A Sizzler (Bet Now: $4.40) is a son of Sizzling for Dan Morton that resumes. Had a two run prep to start his career a few months ago, placing on debut before a down the track effort at Bunbury and was spelled soon after. Looked great in a recent trial and should land in a plum spot from the draw.
6 Simple Logic (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Rich Enuff juvenile on debut for the Neville Parnham camp. This guy trialled here last week over the 1000m and thought he moved well in getting the win. Stable has been firing in recent weeks at metro level so giving this guy some respect.
Race 2. (14:49) TABTOUCH W'SPEED PLAT. (RS0MW) 1400m
I’ll take a chance with 2 Mt Mr Walker (Bet Now: $6.50). Steve Wolfe trained gelding that ran a few weeks ago over 1200m. He was there to win but couldn’t finish it off behind Snippy Miss. I think he just wants a rise in trip and he gets that here, so I’ll give him another chance.
1 Ohbeeh (Bet Now: $3.40) is a beauty for Jim Taylor. Very honest customer that ran over 1300m here two weeks ago. He was four and five wide no cover for the trip and did a remarkable job to finish as close as he did to Vital Blast. If that run hasn’t busted him, he’ll go close.
6 Granrandell (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Jason Pateman trained gelding that comes through the Vital Blast race mentioned above. He was a few weeks between runs and loomed to win when presented. Just couldn’t finish it off with condition giving way. He will improve off that and is a knockout chance.
Race 3. (15:29) FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PK-BM62+ 1300m
4 Special View (Bet Now: $4.60) looks to be heading in the right director for Hayden Ballantyne. Resumed here last Wednesday when leading throughout and though challenged late, he found plenty under pressure and was too good. Harder here, but got the right racing pattern and got more upside than most.
1 No Surrender (Bet Now: $20.00) is a tick over two weeks between runs and comes back in trip. Sat on speed at Pinjarra and tried hard to kick on, which he did to an extent, but tired late to run fourth. Reckon back to 1300m is a positive for him and handles wet ground, so he can bounce back.
10 Town Hall (Bet Now: $26.00) is a son of Oratorio for Neville Parnham that resumes. Hasn’t raced since January 9 when down the track at Ascot but looked a tired horse and was looking for the paddock. Just one soft trial to get ready for his return but the overall form around him reads well.
Race 4. (16:08) MORLEY GROWERS MARKET (BM72+) 2200m
Contender or pretender time for 2 Zaratite (Bet Now: $1.85). He resumed off a long lay off over the mile here before having a month off and racing at the trip again when outgunned late. Hard fit now, close to it anyway, and up to a more suitable trip, this is D-Day for him.
6 Gunnago (Bet Now: $14.00) should be better for the run from a two weeks ago. He was a few weeks between runs and it was his first run at 2100m for the trip. Just couldn’t quite finish the race off behind Treasured Crown. He’ll improve off that and can win without surprising.
10 Mosseratti (Bet Now: $21.00) is a rising ten year old but he is racing as well as ever. Month between runs since racing at this track/distance where he got back to near last in the run and closed off strongly behind Born To Try, a very much in form stayer. He is a just for multiples.
Race 5. (16:40) PERTH RACING CLUB M'SHIP-RS1MW 1300m
6 Dunbar (Bet Now: $3.20) is a hard horse to catch and follow with confidence but I think his best is good enough to take this out. Few weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here where I think he wins with clear air instead of a luckless fifth. Better luck this time around and he can take this out.
10 Rocky Path (Bet Now: $11.00) is on the seven day back up for Vaughn Sisley after racing over 1200m here last Saturday where she got run off her legs early but was good late behind Agent Jay. Up to 1300m, she’ll take beating.
2 Seminole Brave (Bet Now: $27.00) would love a firmer deck here. Real eye catcher first up before finding heavy ground two weeks ago and loomed but when he was asked for the big effort, the wheels were spinning. Better suited here and he can win without surprising.
Race 6. (17:20) AMELIA PARK (RS1MW) 1600m
Hard to get away from 1 Sentimental Queen (Bet Now: $3.90). Resumed over 1400m here when back off the speed and worked to the line strongly when second, just missing out on the win. Fitter and up to the mile, even allowing for the weight, she does have class on her side.
5 Vital Flirt (Bet Now: $7.00) is a David Harrison trained mare that is racing in such good form at the moment. Strong win in testing conditions here last Wednesday when finishing best under a lovely ride, with the ride winning the race. Harder here, but she’s earned a crack.
6 Run D’Affaire Run (Bet Now: $9.50) has run well in town before so despite the recent form being at the provincials, he can run well here. Attempted to lead throughout at Northam and gave a solid kick but was nabbed late by Mr Delegator. He will put himself near the speed and run an honest race despite the class rise.
Race 7. (17:50) CROWN PERTH (BM66+) 1400m
I’ll take a punt on 12 Giant Leap (Bet Now: $4.00), a talented four year old that resumes for Team a Williams. He had a four run Summer prep and I’d say, overall, it was a disappointing prep, especially the end of it. His recent trial suggests he has come back well. Just want to see a market push.
2 Notorious One (Bet Now: $3.20) is unbeaten at Belmont and should prove hard to beat once again. Top return from him here two weeks ago, sitting back in the run before easing wider and unleashing a strong finale to get the job done. Has upside to come and will be strong at the end.
6 Zackariah Beau (Bet Now: $9.50) is three weeks between runs for David Harrison since racing here where he drew wide and did a big of work in the run, sticking on strongly when second to Playing Marika. Harvey sticks and though the depth here is stronger I think he can measure up.
Race 8. (18:20) H.G. BOLTON SPRINT 1200m
Hard to get away from 3 Nerodio (Bet Now: $2.45). He’s a beauty that is just so honest and tries hard. That was confirmed two weeks ago with a strong win in the Beaufine over 1000m. Proven 1200m performer and overall, the depth here is similar to Beaufine. The one to beat.
7 Amasenus (Bet Now: $4.80) is best suited at 1000m but can handle the 1200m. Simon Miller trained mare that ran second to Nerodio in the Beaufine. She got back off the speed and closed off well without threatening. 1200m should be okay and she should be strong at the end.
Interesting that Luke Fernie had a couple nominated for this race and goes with the sole rep in 10 Pym’s Royale (Bet Now: $12.00), who is certainly a capable sprinter when right and is proven at this level. Hasn’t raced since the Carbine Club during the Summer Carnival when enormous from the back behind subsequent Perth Cup winner Neufbosc. Resumes without a trial but has a good fresh record.
Race 9. (19:00) HEINEKEN 3 (BM72+) 1000m
I want to give 10 Silkinize (Bet Now: $10.00) another chance. Ran here last Saturday and on face value, I thought he was plain, but watching the replays, there was a clear on speed bias so I’d be forgiving of him. Tempo will be brutal here so he will get his chance to finish over the top.
4 Agent Jay (Bet Now: $3.00) is a beauty that is just so honest and doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Led throughout to win here last Saturday and even though the bias was in his corner, he still had to take advantage of it and was too good. He’ll land near the front and give his all again.
Harder test here for 14 Olga Luisa (Bet Now: $14.00), but she’s a mare in form who is a swimmer so a bit of juice in the track will suit her. Sustained speed came to the fore when winning here two weeks back in a good effort. Harder here, but she has the right racing pattern to run a bold race.
