2 Wee Nessy (Bet Now: $1.45) looks quite clearly the one to beat. Price/Kent trained filly that ran in the Cap D’Antibes down the straight at Flemington and she worked to the line pretty well late in the piece behind Nanagui. J Kah on, should press forward on speed and with class, she’s the pony to bet on.

Danger

4 Lovetta (Bet Now: $3.40) is a Team Freedman filly that resumes. She debuted over 1000m at Bendigo on testing ground where she sat back in the run but came with a well timed run under Zac Spain to win. Trial/jumpout work has been solid enough and with the small field, she won’t be far away.

Long Shot

5 Flores Dreaming (Bet Now: $17.00) is a short course type who lands on speed from the gate. Didn’t beat much last time in a 975m maiden at Swan Hill but she was impressive late. If the inside is okay, she likely leads this field up and I think early on, on speed will be no disadvantage.

Race 2. (12:45) Polvin Fencing (Bm70) 1600m

Tricky race with not a great deal of confidence. Leaning towards 4 Mrs Sippy (Bet Now: $3.70). Jason Warren trained mare that is knocking on the door to win one. She ran over 1400m at Sandown at the midweeks when back in the run and closed off strongly when second to Do It La. The query is the mile, but a small field, soft tempo and J Kah on, she’ll do me.

Danger

2 Defiant Diva (Bet Now: $2.40) has come back in really good order and is the proven miler. Close up third to Zimowy over 1400m at Flemington two back before going to the mile at Sandown where she got back in a funny run race and was good late when second to Seonee, who is flying. She won’t be far away and be strong late.

Long Shot

1 Hunboshi (Bet Now: $15.00) appeals back to Mares grade. Last few runs have come at 2000m+, the latest being at Caulfield over 2000m when back and worked to the line okay without thretening behind Fifth Position. Fresh legs back to the mile and back to Mares grade, a win wouldn’t shock.

Race 3. (13:20) Penang Turf Club Trophy (Bm70) 2000m

6 Hopkins (Bet Now: $7.50) will be dangerous. He ran over 2400m at Sandown last time out where he got a mile out of his ground and was never a factor but did make up good headway. From the inside gate, if he can settle closer in the run, I think he’ll be hard to hold out late.

Danger

2 Holster (Bet Now: $3.00) has home track advantage and is racing in very good form. Willow rode a 12/10 in front on him last Wednesday at Sandown. Got absolute control in front, stacked them up then pushed the button on the turn and gave nothing else a look in, spanking them. Hard to beat given how well he’s racing.

Long Shot

7 Midas Prince (Bet Now: $26.00) hasn’t really fired a shot this time in after two runs but gee if he’s going to find positive form, he finds a very weak race. He was good fresh behind the in form Harmysian then perhaps second up syndrome? Maybe, when down the track behid Lucky Decision. A win wouldn’t totally shock off the return.

Race 4. (13:55) Ibuild Group (Bm70) 1000m

2 Along The River (Bet Now: $7.00) looks the straight bat option. Matty Ellerton trained gelding that has been around the mark this time. Second to a good one in Viviane two back before being rewarded for his consistency with a strong win at Sale. Maps idealy from the gate and is genuine.

Danger

8 Hydro Star (Bet Now: $12.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns, is hit and miss…but his best is clearly good enough to take beating. He ran behind Asfoora at Sandown last time where he was back and wide but found the line well enough I thought. If he’s within range on the turn, he can win.

Long Shot

3 Direct (Bet Now: $6.50) is a speed demon for Lloyd Kennewell that resumes. He returns to racing as a gelding after promising to be a good horse early on in the career, but he just overdid it on speed. Has jumped out well leading in and with his racing pattern, he’s suited here.

Race 5. (14:30) Fast Labour Hire (Bm70) 1500m

8 French Emperor (Bet Now: $6.00) is hit and miss but I think if he puts it all together, he can take this out. They rode him with a sit at Sale last time and it worked, sticking on nicely in defeat when a close up third to Bubbly Lass. He was 1600m back to 1400m so back up to 1500m, he’s a definite winning chance.

Danger

2 Seiners Express (Bet Now: $4.80) is a second up winner and has a bit of class on his side against these. He resumed at Sandown behind Sandy Prince where he was never a factor but was good late in the piece for a horse that tends to get better as the prep goes on. Commands respect.

Long Shot

6 Tobaysure (Bet Now: $2.80) should be suited up to 1500m for Phillip Stokes. He resumed over 1300m at Sandown where he was behind the speed throughout and worked to the line well enough without threatening when third to Sandy Prince. He can be hit and miss, but the return was good and up to 1500m, with a touch of quality, he appeals.

Race 6. (15:05) The Big Screen Company (Bm70) 1200m

2 Apres La Mer (Bet Now: $7.00) will land near the speed and run a bold race. She did that at the Sandown midweeks last time where she led and looked home when she kept finding, but was nabbed late by the in form Savonia. At 1200m, she’ll roll on speed and prove hard to get past.

Danger

7 Cheloon (Bet Now: $7.00) comes here as a last start Saturday metro winner so she commands respect. That win came at Murray Bridge five weeks ago where she was near the speed and trucked before being clicked up by Dean Holland and she found plenty under pressure to win. She’ll measure up here for sure.

Long Shot

3 La Rocque (Bet Now: $6.50) is a handy mare for John McArdle that resumes. She hasn’t raced since Mornington Cup Day in March when down the track behind a quality mare in Quintello. Form around her does read very well for a moderate 70 here and her jumpout work has been strong.

Race 7. (15:45) R.M. Ansett Classic 2400m

Back Me

9 King Of The Castle (Bet Now: $4.40) looks quite clearly the one to beat. Team Williams trained import that made his Australian debut at Flemington two weeks ago and I thought he closed off his race really well in an encouraging return behind High Emocean. Has eyes on the Cups, he’d want to win a race like this and another to get into the Cups. Off that run, with upside, he’ll do me.

Danger

7 Harmysian (Bet Now: $7.50) should take beating against this lot. He’s getting better with racing for Clayton Douglas, his latest run being a few weeks back at The Valley when a closing third against the pattern behind Desert Icon. The win prior at Sandown was dominant and with the way he’s going, he commands respect here.

Long Shot

2 Irish Flame (Bet Now: $14.00) is suited against these I feel. Trained on the track by Brett Scott, his latest run coming over 2400m at the Valley when near the speed throughout and battled late but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Desert Icon. 2400m, I think, will be fine, and with a cheap run, IMO he runs well.

Race 8. (16:25) Austin Waterproofing (Bm70) 1200m

4 Invincible Jet (Bet Now: $4.60) is the likely leader and will give a bold sight. He led at a good clip at Sandown last start and was hailed as the winner when he booted clear, but was nabbed late by Hello Broadcast. The last bit will test but Childs gets on well, he’s got the right racing pattern and will prove hard to run down.

Danger

13 Do Ya Punk (Bet Now: $6.50) is a son of Unencumbered for Peter Moody that resumes. He hasn’t raced since May 22 at Sandown when near the speed throughout and battled on really well when second to Sonaree, who is a tough on speed veteran. Jumpout work has been solid. Just needs luck from the draw.

Long Shot

3 Brasada (Bet Now: $31.00) is better suited over further but can pull out a good run on the fresh. He hasn’t raced since Jan 15 at Flemington over 2000m when producing an end of prep run behind Look Closely, but that said, wasn’t beaten far. Recent jumpout work has been encouraging and maps okay.
