Race 1. (13:13) Eureka Stud (Bm75) 1200m
9 Self Indulgent (Bet Now:Β $1.65) has found winning form…can she go on with it now? Jury was out after her first two runs for the prep but she bounced back in a big way two weeks ago with a dominant win at Doomben, sitting on speed before being clicked up and away he went. Hoping she can go on with it.
4 Ingear (Bet Now:Β $6.00) has the class factor to give these a shake. She ran third to stablemate Self Indulgent a fortnight back at Doomben and was good in defeat from off the speed, a moderate speed, clocking solid enough late splits. Third up and hard fit, she commands respect with her class.
2 Red Bloom (Bet Now:Β $19.00) is a Team Sears trained mare that resumes, having not raced since April 16 at Eagle Farm when good late behind General Dubai in a blanket finish. She runs well on the home track and has a good fresh record, so I’d watch the market, especially with this stable.
Race 2. (13:48) Barrier Reef Pools Plate (C3) 1000m
5 Uncle Russ (Bet Now:Β $2.30) has come back in super order and with home track advantage, I think he can measure up. Resumed with an impressive win from the back at this track/distance before going to 1200m at Ipswich where Molly rode him like a good thing and in the end, he was a good thing. Back to 1000m I like and he should be strong late.
13 Mouette (Bet Now:Β $9.50) is a jump/run type that will look the winner for a fair chunk of the race. Both runs this time in have come over 1000m at the Sunny Coast, leading and gapping them fresh before leading again and giving a sight but just felt the pinch late. Last bit will test, but he’ll give a good account of himself.
1 Allez Zou (Bet Now:Β $12.00) is a key threat. Far from disgraced fresh at Doomben behind Be Water My Friend. He then went to the Sunny Coast where he had a suck run throughout before angling into clear air and finishing best. He’s got room for improvement and is in with a shout against these.
Race 3. (14:23) T'mba Truck Spares Pat O'shea 1000m
7 Top Fun (Bet Now:Β $4.60) for me. Team Sears has this colt and he looked a really nice mover when winning a trial here on Tuesday. Led throughout under Steph Lacy and seemingly had plenty in hand late with the ears pricked. Ben Thompson booked to steer, he’ll do me.
8 Bedaub (Bet Now:Β $3.90) looks one of the better picks of the locals. Michael Nolan trained filly that is beautifully bred filly, being a half sister to Group l winner Hinged. She has had two trials to get ready for start one, winning the latest trial last week and seemingly moved well on speed. Home track advantage, she commands respect.
1 Felix The Scat (Bet Now:Β $6.00) is a Team Hulbert trained colt that looks ready to go. He trialled a few weeks ago at Doomben where he won his trial in solid time and looked to move pretty well. Hard to know with this race, and usually betting is the main guide, but he looks hard enough to beat.
Race 4. (14:58) Toowoomba Guineas 1625m
2 Altar Boy (Bet Now:Β $6.50) is an improver. First run for Stuart Kendrick came three weeks ago over the mile at Doomben where he wasn’t suited at all by the sit/sprint but he picked up late and was solid to the line and through it behind Lammer. More genuine tempo here, expect improvement.
8 Madame Odette (Bet Now:Β $4.00) is a filly with talent for Tony Gollan. Strong debut win over 1200m at Ipswich before going to 1350m at Doomben where she was a bit flat footed when the sprint went on but picked up and wasn’t too bad late in defeat behind Prince Shalaa. Up to the mile is okay, on breeding, and has good upside compared to most.
9 Tokyo Blossom (Bet Now:Β $21.00) has home track advantage and 1600m form. Strong late two back over 1300m here when a close up fifth. Then she went to the mile when a notable drifter in betting and despite that, she wasn’t beaten far in her first look at the trip. Better for the run, she’s a knockout chance.
Race 5. (15:37) K&R Plumbing Supplies (Bm80) 1625m
5 Blacklog (Bet Now:Β $11.00) has found winning form and now getting to his home track, he can hold it. He was in a long run of outs but that changed a few weeks ago at Doomben where he was presented with purpose and once he was clicked up, he knuckled down strongly to win and win well. He can go on with it.
9 Goldeel (Bet Now:Β $3.10) has home track advantage and is right down in the weights. Angela Jones rode a peach race on the mare in front at Doomben last time and with that soft time of it on speed, she was able to fight back and win. Lands near the front again and is hard to beat.
2 Couldn’t Refuse (Bet Now:Β $15.00) deserves another look. He was putting together a good sequence of runs before contesting the Tatts Mile where he was outclassed but I will say the race wasn’t really run to suit behind Tumbler Ridge. Back to 80 grade, he can run a much improved race.
Race 6. (16:17) Ag Rigging Plate (C6) 1300m
11 Rubamos (Bet Now:Β $2.70) has found winning form and can certainly hold it. Collett put him into a beaut spot at the Gold Coast last time. Just a matter of pushing the button and once he did, away he went and he spanked them. Promised to win one this prep. Now he has, he can win again.
Have to give respect to 6 Ulysses (Bet Now:Β $4.60). Trialled up well and was specked at odds when resuming at Doomben two weeks ago. He was massive in defeat given he was near a fast speed and he kept finding the line when fourth to Grey Defence. Fitter and up to 1300m, with enormous upside, he appeals.
1 Desert Dreamer (Bet Now:Β $31.00) is crying out for further and he gets that here. All three runs this time in have come over 1200m, the latest being a fortnight back when back in the run and closed off quite well without threatening. Love him up to 1300m and with a more positive steer, he can bounce back.
Race 7. (17:00) Toowoomba Cup 2000m
Upside with the Waller polish, I’ll be backing 12 Welsh Legend (Bet Now:Β $13.00) each way. She’s had two runs back from a break. Fresh in the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury, she was good late behind Skyman. She then went to the Tatts Mile and was plain in a race not run to suit behind Tumbler Ridge. Third up at 2000m, with upside to come, she’ll be strong late I’d suggest.
2 Seat Of Power (Bet Now:Β $5.50) has been up forever it seems like but gee he’s racing well. Strong winner a fortnight back at Doomben where he was near the speed and was there to be beaten but he found when required and class came to the fore in a strong effort. Only has to hold his form to be around the mark.
8 Sayl (Bet Now:Β $21.00) is suited back up to 2000m. Massive effort in defeat two back in the Townsville Cup before coming back to the mile at Doomben and he was gone before the turn in a pretty plain effort, but he didn’t pull up 100% post race. Home track advantage and up to 2000m again, his best is good enough.
Race 8. (17:40) Toowoomba Weetwood 1200m
12 Mass Destruction (Bet Now:Β $7.00) has the Eureka Stud colours so that, in form now…just looks set right up to have a proper crack at the Weetwood. He was smashed in betting two weeks ago at Doomben and launched late, just missing out on picking up Weona Smartone, who was superb on speed. Fitter, up to 1200m, off a good speed, he’ll take beating.
4 Garibaldi (Bet Now:Β $6.50) has found winning form now. Question is can he go on with it? Peach steer from Maloney saw him just get there in the Goldmarket at the Gold Coast, wearing down Axe to win narrowly. Form prior was strong and stable loves to target this race day.
2 Emerald Kingdom (Bet Now:Β $15.00) has the class factor to give this a shake. First run for Desleigh Forster came two weeks back at Doomben when back in the field, run off his legs, and worked home okay without threatening behind Weona Smartone. Fitter, up in trip, his best likely sees him win so watch the market.
Race 9. (18:20) Moore Trailers (Bm75) 1200m
6 Be Water My Friend (Bet Now:Β $12.00) looks hard to beat. He is three weeks between runs since racing at Doomben where he lost the plot early, was a mile out of his ground, and was never a factor, but was good late when third to Never Paid. Good test here, but he’s flying and will be strong late.
11 Smart Image (Bet Now:Β $8.50) is knocking on the door to win. He had the suck run behind Birriecart a fortnight back and had his chance but battled away pretty well in defeat to finish third behind the promising O’Dea/Hoysted galloper. I reckon ridden a pair further back, launch late, he’ll be more effective.
4 Acrobatic (Bet Now:Β $14.00) is a key chance. I actually think he is back on track, provided they keep riding him with patience. He ran in the Legal Esprit race from a few weeks back at Eagle Farm and worked to the line pretty well without threatening when fourth. His best is good enough and I think he’s on track.
