Queensland racing this Saturday heads to Eagle Farm, highlighted by the final Group l of the season, the Tatts Tiara (1400m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eight metres for the entire circuit.
Tatts Tiara 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Tatts Tiara
Race 1. (11:43) The Conservatory @ Tatts Handicap (Class 3) 1600m
9 Lethal Warning (Bet Now: $10.00) on top. Tony Gollan trained son of Lucas Cranach that resumed over 1400m at the Gold Coast, a trip clearly short of his best, and despite never being a winning threat, I really liked the way he finished his race off behind Field Regiment. Might want one more, but firmer footing, extra 200m, bigger track…all points to him running well.
5 Sea Palling (Bet Now: $7.50) is a progressive galloper for Barry Lockwood that resumed over 1200m at Ipswich where he had a suck run behind the speed before Brooker got him clear air and he drove hard late to finish best in a great return. He’s got more to come, so he commands respect.
2 Bold Pedro (Bet Now: $9.50) is suited up in trip for Garnett Taylor. He was on speed when resuming over 1300m at Rockhampton and loomed to kick on and win, but condition just gave out late when third to Ruby’s Lad. Likely has eyes on the Cup Carnival up there, but he’s good enough to run a positive race here.
Race 2. (12:18) Impressu Print Group Handicap (78) 1200m
I’m keen on 10 Uncommon James (Bet Now: $2.05), an O’Dea/Hoysted three year old that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Winter Carnival last year when winning the Oxlade, beating speed demon Maotai. Has clearly had his issues, but his two trials to get ready have been quite strong. He’s the one to beat.
7 Joy Too All (Bet Now: $4.80) has been one of these David Vandyke runners that has been so placed throughout her career but there comes a time where it’s no place to hide and she has to step up to the plate. Didn’t beat much fresh at the Sunny Coast Poly, and not sure she enjoyed the surface, but class got her home. Good test for her here, but I think she can measure up.
Fitter and up to 1200m are two big ticks for 11 Jetski (Bet Now: $21.00). He resumed at the midweeks at Doomben over 1050m where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat, he was good late behind impressive winner Red Rubi. Like him up to 1200m and has good upside to come.
Race 3. (12:53) Tatts Gold Crown 2150m
1 Our Intrigue (Bet Now: $1.65) on top. On the seven day back up for Chris Waller after racing in the Ipswich Cup last Saturday where she looked all over a winner when presented but just found one better late in Smart Meteor. She’s bursting to win a Stakes race and back to Mares grade, she’ll take beating on top of the ground.
3 Rebel Rama (Bet Now: $6.00) is racing in solid form for Marc Conners. Thrown somewhat in the deep end three weeks back over 1800m at Rosehill in a strong 94 and she didn’t disgrace herself at all in a good effort behind Surf Dancer. Proven performer at the trip and back to Mares grade, she’s a key threat.
9 Little Mix (Bet Now: $8.00) will have no issue with the trip and overall, this is a pretty thin race. Put together a couple of sharp wins over the mile at Toowoomba before stepping up to 1800m at the Gold Coast where she got back in the run and was good late when a narrow second. Off that effort, 2150m I like and a win wouldn’t shock.
Race 4. (13:28) Tatts Cup 2418m
3 London Banker (Bet Now: $4.80) is working up to a win I feel. He hasn’t really been placed in a race where he can win but I do feel this is a race he can win. Not really suited in the Q22 but his finale against the race shape was quite good. Like him back up in trip and is hard to beat I’d suggest.
5 Bonny Ezra (Bet Now: $3.30) has been up a while but is holding his form nicely. Looked the winner of the Winter Cup when he was presented but was bloused on the peg by Irish Sequel. He showed at Scone he loves to dig in so 2400m here is no issue and he’s in the right camp.
2 Esti Feny (Bet Now: $2.20) hasn’t been too bad this time in. Far from disgraced two back in the Doomben Cup behind Huetor before going to the Q22 where he was fence in run and made up solid headway behind Numerian. He’ll love getting to 2400m and I think has petrol left in the tank.
Race 5. (14:03) Battle Of The Bush Final (0MWLY) 1200m
Have to go to Twitter to find some form of replays for the Qualifiers. I thought 6 Moscini (Bet Now: $8.50) was the most impressive. He led throughout to win at Nanango, which tells me he had panels on them because he is a horse who likes to sit back and run on. Has run well in town before and will be strong late if they ride with a sit.
1 Star Of O’Reilly (Bet Now: $3.60) is a winning machine for Todd Austin. He has been quite impressive his past couple, bolting up at Barcaldine before comfortbaly taking out the Cloncurry Qualfier, lumping 67kg in the process. Gets down to 62.5kg here and Ric McMahon does seem to really click with him.
4 Raiden (Bet Now: $11.00) is a chance if he gets a suck run in transit because I do think 1200m, a strong 1200m, sees him right out. He’s much more effective at 1100m, as seen when spanking them in the Mount Isa Qualifier. Love that they find Pike, because he can ride patient, cuddle and launch this horse late.
Race 6. (14:38) Edward Street Brisbane 1200m
5 Putontheredlight (Bet Now: $5.00) is a key chance. She is three weeks between runs since contesting the QLD Day where she got a fair way back in the run but was good late in the piece behind Athelric. If she can settle closer in the run and be within range, she can certainly take this out.
1 Rhapsody Rose (Bet Now: $3.80) is suited back to her own sex for Chris Munce. She was off a let up when racing in the QLD Day three weeks ago. She attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Athelric. Back to this sort of race, she can bounce back into the winners list.
3 Tilianam (Bet Now: $6.50) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with WaterBott, she now finds herself with Tony Gollan. Hasn’t raced since May 14 when a game second at Flemington behind a handy filly in Adele Amour. Tick over trial a couple of weeks ago was solid and fresh legs, at 1200m, expect her to run well.
Race 7. (15:13) Tatts Life Members Stakes 1400m
11 Honey Pot (Bet Now: $7.00) is getting towards D-Day. Talented filly for Tony Gollan but she is still yet to win despite strong market support, including last Saturday, and I am forgiving of that run because that track was a dairy farm and she just couldn’t pick up when she needed to. Firmer footing, bigger track, 1400m…keen.
7 Chayse N Artie (Bet Now: $5.50) should take beating here. Les Kelly trained juvenile that ran three weeks ago in The Phoenix and while I doubt he wins, he clearly should have finished closer and placed behind Political Debate, a form race which proved strong in the JJ Atkins. Just back in trip a query, but he’s a nice horse.
14 Kamitori (Bet Now: $18.00) looks a promising filly for Kris Lees. Pilot error cost her a maiden win two back at Gosford before going to the Oxlade here two weeks back and she was very good from near last behind Johnny Rocker in a race dominated on speed/fence in run. If she’s within range, she can take this out.
Race 8. (15:53) Tatts Tiara 1400m
She’s a hard horse to follow and trust, but I reckon the set up here is ideal for 8 Brooklyn Hustle (Bet Now: $12.00). She seems to thrive at Eagle Farm and she ran well in this race last year. She was excellent late in the Stradbroke and yes, that is the story of her life, but the run was still very good. I think she’s a great each way bet.
16 Startantes (Bet Now: $11.00) is similar to Brooklyn Hustle. Horrendous racing pattern, but she has an engine. One of the runs of the race in the Stradbroke after geting a mile back in the run, finishing off with real purpose between runners. If she’s within range on the turn, she can win.
7 Nudge (Bet Now: $13.00) ran second in the race last year and she’s on track to run well again. Three weeks between runs since racing over the mile here where she just did a bit too much work and that brought her undone when pipped late by stablemate Kiku. I think she’ll only run well.
Race 9. (16:37) W J Healy Stakes 1200m
9 Garibaldi (Bet Now: $10.00) looks to have come in really good order and with that in mind, I am in his corner here. Resumed over 1000m a few weeks ago at Eagle Farm in the Lightning and was there to beat Boomnova, but that mare had hard fitness on her side and that was the difference. Better for the run, up in trip…all points to him I’d suggest.
1 Baller (Bet Now: $6.50) is a 1200m specialist and I think brings some strong form lines into this. He was a strong winner of the Moreton Cup three weeks ago at Eagle Farm, aided by a peach from Hugh Bowman. Stable could have gone to the Stradbroke, but elected to save him for this. Hard to beat.
12 Alpine Edge… (Bet Now: $9.50) is he back on track? He was solid in the 10,000 behind Mazu, then was an eye catcher late in the Fred Best a few weeks ago behind Vilana. Hasn’t won in a little while, but I do think he finds a very winnable race and his best likely sees him go very close.
