Eight races will be run and won at Warwick Farm on Wednesday for Australia Day Cup Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.
Australia Day Cup 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Australia Day Cup

Race 1. (13:40) Xxxx Mdn Plate 1100m
I think it’ll take a good one to beat 2 Mars Mission (Bet Now: $1.70) because I think he’s pretty good. Debuted in a hot maiden at Sandown in August and was excellent in defeat in a race which has produced four subsequent winners. Trial last Monday was electric, he’s heading to better races than this and anything over $2 is overs.
9 My Eloise (Bet Now: $4.80) is a daughter of Capitalist for Joe Pride that is on debut and you always have to respect the home track runners at Warwick Farm. This will be her third prep and finally debuts here, so she’s certainly had a strong grounding for start one and her recent trials have been encouraging. I think she runs well.
6 Diamond Blush (Bet Now: $16.00) is a daughter of Deep Field for Anthony Cummings that resumes. She didn’t set the world on fire when last in work but does have some strong form lines around her. Looked to trial up quite well at Wyong recently and stable gets J Mac to steer.
Race 2. (14:15) Drinkwise Mdn Plate 1400m
7 Russian Ruble (Bet Now: $2.35) looks the one to beat. This gelding hasn’t been far away this prep and looks ready to win after a narrow second at this track/distance last start to Publicist, with a big gap to third. He was a few weeks between runs there so you’d like to think there is room for improvement.
8 Edgewise (Bet Now: $7.50) is a Matty Dunn trained filly who isn’t far off a maiden. She ran in another 1400m maiden the same day as Russian Ruble. She ran third and the overall time was slower, so on the clock, she does need to improve, but has upside and gets a jockey upgrade.
2 Aton Of Delight (Bet Now: $10.00) resumes and I think he’ll be the one catching the eye late. Resumes for Chris Waller, having not raced since his debut at Rosehill back in November when producing good late splits from the back when fourth. To me he looks a 2000m+, so whether that means a Derby, not sure, but keen to see how he goes.
Race 3. (14:50) Harry Angel 1st Yearlings-bm64 1600m
2 Tuhinga (Bet Now: $2.90) is a last start maiden winner and I think he can win again. That win came over 1350m at Wyong where he knuckled down strongly on the wet track and under Magorrian, finished best, racing like further will suit, which he gets here and gets J Mac. Hard to beat.
Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for 3 Bon Vivant (Bet Now: $5.00). Was seven weeks between runs and back to 1350m from the mile when racing at Wyong. He got back off the speed but finished off his race with real purpose behind Mihocek. Got upside and proven at the mile.
I think 7 Scat’s Surfer Girl (Bet Now: $4.40) has her share of talent for Chris Waller. Resumed two weeks ago in a 1400m maiden here where she was just a bit flat footed when the sprint went on but picked up and was okay late in fourth. The mile to the rise suits. Query being is she sharp enough to beat these.
Race 4. (15:25) Vinery (bm72) 1000m
7 Fire (Bet Now: $2.05) on top. Team Hawkes trained three year old that resumes, having not raced since September 24 when down the track at The Valley behind Minsk Moment, which does read well for this. The old rule with Rosehill trials is that if they run sub 53 for the 900m, they run well soon after and expecting that to continue here.
1 Sixgun (Bet Now: $3.50) doesn’t have a great second up record but I think he has the talent to go close here. Resumed at this track/distance and worked to the line strongly from off the speed when third to a proven Saturday metro performer in De Grawin. If he’s within range, he can win.
8 Pindarra’s Dream (Bet Now: $19.00) is the knockout chance. She comes through the De Grawin race mentioned above and while I doubt she wins, I think she finishes much closer if she had clear air in the straight, ending up getting beat just under three lengths. She is a must for exotics.
Race 5. (16:00) Buy Better At Inglis (bm72) 1400m
2 In Lighten Me (Bet Now: $18.00) is a hard mare to catch but I think from the soft gate, 1400m here could potentially be ideal. Ran over 1200m here last time out where she got a fair way back in the run and worked to the line pretty well without threatening behind General Dubai. She’s hit and miss but her best is good enough to go close here.
3 Molly Nails (Bet Now: $3.00) is a quality mare for Matty Dale that comes to town off the back of a first up win, which came on Moruya Cup Day, where she was given a peach by Heywood from the wide gate, with the ride winning the race. Has run well at metro level before and has upside to come.
9 Confessed (Bet Now: $4.50) finds a winnable metro race here I feel for Kris Lees. Loved the way she knuckled down to win at Wyong last time out. The race was there to be won and she found under pressure, finishing best in a driving go. Bit of depth here compared to last start, but lightly raced and has a good record.
Race 6. (16:40) Tab (bm72) 1400m
3 Zell (Bet Now: $10.00) is a dead set dry track horse so with conditions to suit here, I’m in his corner. Struck a Soft6 here two weeks ago and despite that, he finished off his race with real purpose when third to Marnix. He saves his best for firm decks and that is what he’ll get here, so that, the soft draw, fitter, I like him.
2 Silent Agenda (Bet Now: $9.00) will need luck from the gate but I think he’s in for a good prep. Resumed over 1200m here a fortnight back and flashed late from off the speed, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to General Dubai. Like him up in trip. Just depends where he gets to from the draw.
Back to 1400m I find interesting with 7 Atlantic King (Bet Now: $10.00). He ran over 1550m under the lights at Canterbury last time out and was just too bad to be true when tailed off behind Maccomo. Good record at 1400m and his prior form is good enough to be competitive here.
Race 7. (17:20) Australia Day Cup 2400m
4 Mubariz (Bet Now: $3.60) looks really well placed here. He ran out of his skin in the January Cup a fe3w weeks ago. Collett presented him to win and he gave a strong kick, but had to settle for a narrow second to stablemate So You Win. Up in trip, fitter, upside, I like him a lot here.
2 Parry Sound (Bet Now: $3.70) is racing well for Bjorn Baker. Strong winner two back in the Summer Cup at Randwick, which ensured he was a short priced favourite in the Magic Millions Subzero at the Gold Coast and for mine, he was a tad disappointing after seemingly getting every chance. Has credits in the bank to get another chance.
11 Power Of Attorney (Bet Now: $41.00) is a sleeper despite the firm track being against him. He ran here last time out on a shifty track and worked home well nearer the inside when fourth to Made By Khan. Definite chance if this track was wet. On a dry deck, I’d say he’s a first four threat at best.
Race 8. (18:00) Stud And Stable Awards (bm72) 1200m
4 Head Legislator (Bet Now: $5.50) is a key threat. He resumed in the Wyong 3&4YO Magic Millions. Unfortunately gate one wasn’t used to advantage and was forced to sit out the back before peeling wide, not handling the turn but was good late when balanced up. He’s good enough to trouble these.
1 Dajraan (Bet Now: $2.25) is a fascinating runner. Former UK galloper that makes his Australian debut for the WaterBott camp. Performed quite well at around 1400m so 1200m here fresh I find interesting. He’s had a couple of strong trials to get ready for start one down under and J Mac is booked so watch the market.
3 He’s Super Lucky (Bet Now: $12.00) should be suited up to 1200m. Ran a few weeks back in a Midway on the Kenso track where he got a mile back in the run but loved the way he found the line late when a close up fifth, beaten just over a length. If he can sit closer in the run, he’ll be dangerous.
